My video workshops always start with an assessment to rate the camera confidence in the room. It’s done in a playful way where a green smiley means they can’t wait to get going, deep purple means they have to be dragged by their hair to speak on camera...

Most people land on red or orange - reluctant but willing to give it a go. Apprehensive. Embarrassed. There may be blushing.

Adventure Connection caught me off guard. All yellow or green before we even got started!

I could have left the room, but I felt really excited - here was a team ready to take video to the next level.

What we worked on wasn’t just about overcoming camera fear. It wasn’t about Showing up, it was about How to show up, to whom. We explored new, really important content categories and styles based on their customers’ identity. How to create congruence, brand consistency and flow to keep up and grow. Storytelling structures that create deeper connections and techniques to step up their presence to create higher impact.

For those turning red as you read this: that’s completely normal. We can work on your confidence and willingness to show up.

I’ve had so much fun over the years doing lifestyle photography for and their sustainable swim and activewear – from the English Channel to Ibiza and Morocco! 🇬🇧 🇪🇸 🇲🇦
It’s now time for RubyMoon to finalise the steps towards their ultimate goal: funding a new swimwear recycling plant!

Each year, millions of swimsuits end up in landfill because they’re made from mixed materials that can’t be recycled. The annual carbon emissions from swimwear waste are as high as an entire city like Manchester!

RubyMoon have created CIRC-SUIT. It’s designed to be fully recyclable from the start. Made to last, then recycled into something new when you’re done with it.

Jo Godden FRSA, creator of RubyMoon, and her team are already creating this new product, but need your help to scale the technology.

Holding a yellow buttercup because it’s spring in Kabul too. A space-girl, because she’s always been intrigued about space. A black frame to save bandwidth. One by one they turn their cameras on, and I’m met by smiley excited faces.

One wants to be a photographer. One dreams of working in human rights for the UN. One has family in Sweden. So many touch points.

They’re ambitious and they know what purpose and values mean. They’re clever and fun. Some are already married with children. None of them were allowed to finish school.

This was our first of five workshops on video communication, a crucial skill for women living in Afghanistan right now.

Thanks to they’re able to learn and connect online and we’re here to help.
