Silver Photography Documentary Style Wedding and Elopement Photography in Scotland and Abroad by Trevor Wilson My approach is relaxed, unposed, and focused on connection.

For over 20 years, I’ve been photographing weddings and elopements across Scotland — from wild, windswept mountains to quiet city streets. What I love most is creating natural, story-driven images that let couples relive the real feeling of their day. I specialise in wilderness adventure elopements — hiking into the Highlands, saying vows on remote beaches, or celebrating beneath dramatic skies on

the Isle of Skye. But not every elopement needs hiking boots; I also capture small, intimate city weddings in Edinburgh and Glasgow, or cosy gatherings in hidden corners of Scotland. You’ll spend the day enjoying yourselves while I document it all with a natural style that blends people, moments, and Scotland’s breathtaking landscapes. If you’re planning an elopement or wedding in Scotland — whether it’s adventurous or intimate, big or small — I’d love to hear your story.

There is an often overlooked part of Scotland that definitely one of the most romantic and wild places to say your wedding vows — Arisaig. Perfectly suited to intimate elopements there are countless little coves and dunes to wonder through. Beautiful little cottages to use as a base to explore this wonderful area and, perhaps best of all, it's only an hour from Fort William, and it's even accessible by train!

If you want to find out more about how you could elope to Arisaig, or anywhere in the west coast of the Scottish Highlands, let me know!

I've just had another extremely kind review! This one is from M&M who had their elopement ceremony at Glencoe Lochan before hiking along to Ralston Cairn for a few photographs after topping up their energy reserves with some of the largest pieces of cake I've ever seen.

"Massively recommended for a Highland elopement!

Trevor was generous with his time and knowledge. He took the time to recommend locations and suppliers to us who fitted into our overall elopement vision. He was flexible and patient in helping us to develop a schedule which worked within our budget.

On the day, he put us at ease and guided us with professionalism and humour, and produced truly spectacular photos!

He was able to turn these photos around and share them with us swiftly, and was responsive to our queries afterwards.

If you're looking for spectacular photos in the Highlands, we can't recommend him enough!"

I always love it when couples remember that there are no rules on a wedding day. Erin and Craig had a small family wedding in the Cairngorms and, although they exchanged their vows in front of their closest family and friends during the ceremony, they also wanted the chance to share something more personal with one another.

Later that day, after we had finished exploring the forests around Loch an Eilein for photographs, they found a quiet spot amongst the trees and read their private vows together. There was nobody else there to hear them, and even I stayed well back so as not to intrude.

It was a simple moment, but a wonderfully personal one, and a lovely reminder that your wedding day can be shaped around the things that matter most to you.

Here's a really kind review to finish off a great week of Arisaig weddings and camping in the Highlands.

Isla and Corrie were married at Rossie on the Earn last Autumn and their wedding was great fun to photograph!

"We are so glad we booked Trevor to photograph our wedding in Oct 2025.

With neither my husband and I being great fans of being infront of the camera we were looking for someone who would capture our day in a relaxed and natural way. From the initial conversation with Trevor we knew he was the right photographer for us. He was really easy to chat to and had great communication in the lead up to our wedding.

On the day, Trevor managed to make us both feel calm and comfortable while in front of the camera. Alongside capturing some wonderful candid moments on our day, we often forgot he was there, he also noticed when the light outside was perfect allowing my husband and I to get some amazing photos together.

We received the pictures really quickly after the wedding and couldn't be happier with the results.

We would definitely recommend Trevor to anyone looking for a photographer!"

I was up in Arisaig for a wedding this weekend so I brought Fiona and Chip along and we are having a brilliant short camping holiday! The forecast for today wasn't great but, as I tell all my couples, that doesn't mean anything when you're in Scotland - you just have to be courageous! It turned out to be an absolutely stunning day as you can see in the clip here.

Being an elopement photographer here in Scotland means that I get to do two of my favourite things for a job — make photographs and be outdoors. When I had my usual pre-wedding video call with these guys, and their main brief was to capture them with some mountains, I knew it was going to be a great day!

This elopement had everything and included forests, peaceful lochs, a gin-delivery service for the quaich, a mountain picnic with the largest cake I've ever seen and Strava segments galore.

The one thing it definitely did not have? Stress.

If you want a fuss-free elopement that you'll remember for all the right reasons please send me a message and I'll be more than happy to help.

These days I mostly photograph my weddings and elopements here in the western Highlands of Scotland. Don't get me wrong — I absolutely love this area, but it's also nice to go somewhere different once in a while, so when Kersha and Kieran asked me to photograph their woodland wedding near Aviemore I couldn't say no.

They'd rented a large and beautiful house called Drum Lodge, on the Dorback estate, for all their friends and family to stay in. Since everyone had traveled up from England to be there they had made a holiday out of their visit to Scotland, with a little wedding tucked away in the middle! This is something I see a lot these days and, personally, I think its a brilliant idea.

For the ceremony itself we all travelled the short distance to Loch Garten, nestled in between beautiful forests and snow-capped mountains, where Kersha and Kieran were married in front of their closest family and friends, and dogs Archer and Floss of course. After a few photographs in the amazing light we all headed back to Drum Lodge for some incredible cakes (Kj's Bothy Bakery )

Aaron and Rachel's wedding was just lovely wasn't it, even when the sheep scurried over and ate the confetti, but my word was it hot that day. It's not often I get to say that in Scotland :)

Ever wondered what actually happens during a registrar ceremony? 👀

A few days ago, I had the privilege of witnessing something truly special — a marriage proposal. Jacob had shared his plan with me in advance and managed to keep every detail a complete surprise for Rachel. When they travelled all the way from the USA to Scotland, she had no idea what was about to unfold.

Being able to photograph such an honest, beautiful moment in someone’s life is incredibly meaningful, and it’s something I never take for granted. I’m delighted to have a few more proposals already planned for the year ahead.

As a photographer, photographing a proposal is actually a really fun challenge. I only knew a fairly rough location, and that Jacob was wearing a brown jacket. I had to be in the right place, but not so close that Rachel would suspect anything. Luckily I like being kept on my toes 😂
