HAPPY WORLD CUP TO ALL THOSE WHO CELEBRATE ⚽

Funnily enough this shot was completely unscripted 😂 The disco ball fell off a table at Amie and Tom's wedding reception at Fletcher's Bar in Kings Heath, Tom put his foot on it and I just happened to be in the right place at the right time. One click and that was it. Now as a self confessed football nerd I had an absolutely great time turning this into every World Cup ball from 1982 to 2026 and I'm not even slightly sorry about how long it took me 🏆

My personal favourite is the 2002 Fevernova from the Japan and Korea World Cup.
Genuinely one of the best looking balls ever made and I will die on that hill. Which one's yours? 👇

If you've spotted me at a wedding before you'll know the gear is not small 😂

I make a conscious choice to carry a lot of equipment and yes, I feel it for days after every wedding. But the reason I do it is pretty simple. I want to be able to give you the full picture of your day. The wide shots that set the scene, the mid shots full of action and portraits, and the closeups that capture all the little details and emotions up close. Think of it like a movie. A great film needs all of those elements to tell the story properly and so does a great wedding gallery. I'd rather ache for a week and know you've got everything than travel light and miss something. Always worth it 😊

Four photos. All of Zoe's Dad seeing her in her dress for the first time. I'll be honest, this one got me a bit 🤍

It's a good reminder that a first look shoot doesn't have to involve your partner. It can be anyone, a parent, a sibling, whoever that person is who is going to completely lose it when they see you and you wouldn't have it any other way.

In America it's become really common for couples to do a private first look with each other before the ceremony too, away from all the guests, just a moment that belongs entirely to them. It helps with nerves, it gives you both something really personal and the photos are always something special. And it works just as beautifully whether it's two brides, two grooms or anything else entirely. Anyone can do a first look and honestly more people should 😊

Back home and slowly returning to normal after an incredible few days in Slovenia 🙋

More on Alex and Scott's wedding very soon. For now, Tom & Danielle at Nuthurst Grange 🤍 A really elegant, classy day and a couple who were just so easy to work with from start to finish.

I came back to a brilliant amount of enquiries which genuinely made the journey home feel a lot shorter 😂 I'm working through everything now so if you've been in touch, I'll get back to you very soon. I'm really looking forward to getting some video calls booked in, having a proper conversation and getting to know people a bit before anything else. That part of the process is important to me, I'd much rather have a chat first than just send over a price list.

2027 is filling up now so if you're thinking about getting in touch, sooner is better than later 😊

Alex & Scott, where do I even start.

Castle Bled, perched above that impossible blue water, and the two of you making the whole day look completely effortless, even in the heat... None of it was forced. You just relaxed into it, leaned into each other, and let me do what I do best. And the LOVE. Honestly, it was written across both of you for every single moment. You couldn't fake that if you tried.

Thank you both. For trusting me with your day, for welcoming me so warmly (I basically felt like part of the family), and for bringing me all the way across Europe to one of the most beautiful corners of the world to tell your story. I will not forget this one.

Right, I'm off. 👋 ✈️

Flying out to Slovenia 🇸🇮 tomorrow to capture Alex and Scott's wedding at Castle Bled, Lake Bled. If you know, you know. If you don't, look it up and try not to be too jealous 😂

Rhys & Liam at De Vere Tortworth Court 🖤 Three black and white frames that pretty much tell the whole story of a wedding day. The nerves and emotion during the ceremony, that first kiss, and then the two of them completely relaxed and just enjoying it all out in those stunning grounds.

Tortworth is such a beautiful venue and it sits in the background of that couples shot like it was built specifically for wedding photography. So chuffed for these two, genuinely one of the loveliest days 😊

"Having followed Ali's work for a few years, I was thrilled when he said that he would be able to shoot our wedding and he absolutely didn't disappoint. From our initial communication into early conversations and his role on the actual day, he was a calming, supportive and knowledgeable presence that helped to make the whole process so easy.

My wife and I are not particularly fond of having our picture taken in forced/posed settings and when we discussed this with Ali, he immediately put us at ease and said that wouldn't be a problem. He guided us through the group pictures and then went about his business, capturing candid photos of the celebration in a totally natural and authentic way.

The package that we chose included a second photographer and Ali & Jamie worked together brilliantly. It was the first time that either of them had worked with our venue but the team at Barns & Yard had nothing but praise for the two gents and their work.

Ali stayed in regular contact with us after the wedding: sharing our sneak peek pictures within 24 hours after the big day and the whole gallery very promptly. The online portal to view the pictures is so easy to navigate but the best thing about it is how Ali organised our pictures. The different aspects of the day were split into chapters and looking through them all has allowed us to revisit our wedding almost like a documentary, reliving every single moment.

Having been to several weddings since we got married ourselves, the biggest compliment that I can give Ali and Jamie is that they fitted into our day so seamlessly that they actually felt like they were a part of the wedding party, rather than being there to photograph the happiest day of our lives. I couldn't recommend Ali Horton Photography highly enough."

Charlotte & James at Brinsop Court 🖤 So many things to love about this day but this is one of my favourite little tips I give to couples. Do multiple confetti throws. If you're buying confetti anyway, just order a bit more than you think you need. You get more chances at the shot, your guests get more involved, and the photos from a second or third throw are often better than the first because everyone's warmed up and actually going for it. It costs next to nothing extra and the difference it makes is massive. Just do it 😂
