Looking back at my archives, 2006 wasn't just a festival; it was a fever dream fuelled by black coffee, stage pyros, and the constant roar of planes descending into East Midlands Airport right over our heads. Working for Kerrang! Radio that year meant I was right in the thick of the chaos, and honestly? I wouldn't have traded it for anything.

🎸 FLASHBACK: The Day Trivium Took Over Kerrang! Radio 🤘

8th March 2006. If you were one of the 15 lucky winners in the studio that day, you know exactly how legendary this was.

As the official photographer on the scene, I’m digging through the archives to remember the day Matt Heafy, Corey Beaulieu, and Paolo Gregoletto turned the studio into a metal masterclass! 📸

From Emma Scott and Monk wrangling the chaos to Corey deconstructing those blistering Ascendancy solos, it was a masterclass in every sense of the word. We even got a top-secret first listen to the tracks that would become The Crusade.

8th March 2006. The air inside the Kerrang! Radio studios wasn't just electric—it was heavy. This was the year Trivium stopped being "the next big thing" and officially became the kings of the new metal guard.

I had an absolute blast shooting the Platform one Rock School showcase at Strings Bar & Venue - Isle Of Wight Bar & Venue Saturday night. The energy in the room was electric—from the first soundcheck to the final encore, these students proved they aren’t just "the future" of music, they’re the now.

Nothing beats the atmosphere at Strings when the amps are cranked and the talent is this raw. Huge shoutout to all the performers who left it all on the stage! 🤘✨

more to come, almost finished editing, 2 bands to go!

📻 Exclusive Flashback: Kasabian at Kerrang! Radio (2004)
Talk about being in the right place at the right time. Who remembers when Kasabian squeezed into the Kerrang! Radio studios for that tiny session in front of just 50 lucky fans? 🤯

This was right as their debut album was blowing up. No massive stage, no light show—just raw talent, a few amps, and 50 people basically standing in their personal space while they tore through "Reason Is Treason."

The Setlist Vibes: They played the essentials that would soon become festival anthems:

Reason Is Treason (The ultimate opener)

Club Foot (Imagine that bass in a small office space!)

Processed Beats

L.S.F. (Lost Souls Forever)

It’s wild to think that the same band playing for a handful of people in a radio station would go on to define a generation of UK indie-rock. If you were one of the "Kerrang! 50," you basically witnessed history in a room no bigger than a living room.

📣 Calling all Birmingham music fans! Remember when Kings of Leon were just a raw garage rock band from Tennessee, playing tiny clubs?

I’ve finally opened the archives from my time as the house photographer at Kerrang! Radio. First up on the blog: The legendary, super-secret KOL gig at Subway City in Birmingham on November 3rd, 2004. ⚡️

Only about 150 people were in that sweaty basement. It was electric, chaotic, and pure rock and roll. You could feel the floor shaking.

If you were one of the lucky few, or if you just miss the 2000s indie scene, you need to check this out.

Take a trip back to Lionel Street and the Subway City arches here: 👇👇👇
