Northern gannets are such stunning birds. The largest of our seabirds with a 2 metre wingspan, pairs greet each other by extending their necks and rubbing beaks to reinforce their bond to each other ❤️ Only coming ashore to breed, they will leave by October and won’t set foot on dry land again until next spring, spending the winter months thousands of miles away off the west coast of Africa

There’s so much going on in this photo. The gannets were frantically coming and going from this area of the cliffs collecting and bringing in nesting materials.

It’s not just birds at Bempton Cliffs RSPB. There are plenty of stunning hares, one of my favourite mammals to photograph. I was very lucky to have this close encounter as they are easily spooked and more often than not your first glimpse is of them taking off in the opposite direction.

I’m currently at Bempton Cliffs for a few days and look who I bumped into filming Springwatch! I have to say what a lovely guy, very happy to chat about birds and pose for a selfie 😁

I wouldn’t normally post something like this on my page but I have a lot of followers now who also love & respect wildlife, so you could make all the difference if you sign this petition.

10 men have applied for a licence to club to death gannet chicks this year as the parent birds watch on, on a remote Scottish island, all in the name of tradition and a ‘delicacy’.
This is horrific.

NatureScot will have the final say as to whether the licence is granted. Please sign this petition and show them it is NOT ok to grant the licence.

Back to the owls………apart from the puffins, owls are my favourite birds to photograph. I wish I had a pound for all the hours I’ve spent looking for and waiting for owls to appear!

The common whitethroat, one of our summer visitors from Africa. Interesting fact- the males arrive first and build nests, the females then arrive and inspect the nests,choosing the best one. So basically like us, she prefers a bloke with good DIY skills 😂

The tiniest of birds with the loudest of songs. You can’t help but love these little cuties. They always seem to be so busy, here, there and everywhere. We have them nesting in our garden this year so hopefully will see the chicks soon 🙏
