Pets are very much welcome in newborn sessions! We have had some lovely cats and dogs who have all had plenty of fuss made over them as we record this chapter in your family’s life. My style is all about those natural interactions and storytelling and pets are a special part of that.

I love working with local businesses, getting to know them, hearing their story and their ‘why’. It isn’t just turning up and taking photos, it’s about talking, listening and planning to offer you a positive experience, the images you want and need and a sense of being seen and understood.

I realised I can sometimes take more photos on a family photoshoot than I did on this 11 day holiday! There are a few reasons: On a photoshoot my entire focus is on taking photos and ensuring I offer you the best, on holiday I am trying to also be present, juggling being a mum, the heat, making sure everyone has plenty of suncream, ensuring I don’t stop for too long to avoid everyone getting bored and so much more! It’s a reason why even if you are good with a camera it’s really different when that responsibility is given to someone else and you can be you while they take the photos!

I might not have taken thousands, but I focused on:
1) Capturing my family - including using my mini tripod so I am actually in my photos
2) Taking moments to be creative and capture the details around me, having time to not have the pressure of getting ‘the shot’ but keeping my eye out for shadows, shapes and beautiful streets
3) Telling our story - this will go in a photo album and my children are also making scrapbooks, I want to document these amazing experiences to look back on.

We had an amazing trip (with some challenging moments!) and that’s worth even more than the photos!

I am aware it is not conventional to give a family a portrait where it is only the mum’s foot on show! But I love that these are part of the gallery from this session.

I offer a full digital gallery with every session, so of course there are the ones of you looking at each other or me and laughing, but there are also the outtakes too, and personally, they are some of my favourites!

I love being able to work with businesses on longer sessions or on multiple sessions to showcase more of what they offer.

All business sessions involve an initial chat so I can get to know your business story and what you offer, then we can work together to plan how to best share this. In this case we did two sessions, one for the group session and one that was split into individual branding shots and personal training.

All my sessions involve giving you a full gallery of images so you have plenty for your website and social media to show what you offer.

Each session is different but I love the opportunities to get to know the business owners and to capture images that help them share who they are and what they offer

Being a photographer means it is photos that showcase what I do, these are the final product and what you are paying for. I want you to see my work and what I offer. But I always want to feel comfortable with how I do this and I have recently narrowed what is publicly shared.

I have three brochures; one for newborns, one for families and one for businesses that I would love to share with those who are interested. There is never any pressure to book just because you have requested a brochure, that’s not my style. But it means you can see more of what I offer, my portfolio and approach, without the need to publicly share all those images.

This is a change in how I work, it’s probably a bad one for business, but it feels right at the moment.

(Please note the only images used in brochures are still the ones where families or individuals have given permission for me to do so, and if you would like your images to be completely private they will never be included in these).

Sometimes I have ideas and run with them! On Friday I dreamt up a creative project for the summer, something that gives the chance for us to play, be creative and do something for us while many of us are looking after others. It’s also something suitable for older children or teenagers who want to dabble in some photography.

I love the chance to play and be creative, sometimes I wonder if I should only share work on here, but it is play like this that helps shape my photography but also grows my skills, my passion and my love for what I can do with a camera. I have mentioned before that I made less space in early adulthood for creativity, and I am loving weaving more back into life now.
