I have hundreds of tiny moments that get me every time I travel to Scotland. Or anywhere. I collect them like Pokémon in my camera roll. It helps me stop rushing and start noticing.

I’ve noticed a lot of Earth Day photos leave people out.
no presence and no trace

And I TOTALLY get the instinct. it feels respectful. untouched equals protected.

but I don’t actually think distance is what creates care.

the places that mean the most to me are the ones I’ve stood in.
the ground I’ve walked on, the animals I’ve attempted to make friends with (or just observed), the mountains I’ve seen the light move across throughout the day.

Not to say that land I haven’t stood on DOESN’T matter… but just touching grass in general makes me love ALL grass.

every image I’ve made that matters to me has a relationship in it.
a person or people inside a place. not dominating it, not staging over it. just… belonging to it for a moment.

we protect what we feel connected to and connection usually requires presence (or a photo).

I don’t want to photograph a world where humans are removed.
I want to photograph a world where we remember how to exist inside it well.

for when things go off the rails and I don’t want to be dramatic
but I think the train is gone.

…and we’re all still all watching the decorum and “not ruffling feathers” of congress.

Where are the adults?! Am I taking crazy pills?!!!!

I can’t wait for my whimsical side to be stronger than my rage side again. To post purely Scotland weddings and travel and animals and beauty.

I love my rage side, don’t get me wrong… but it’s kind of a buzz kill

I honestly don’t know where I land with faith… like at all. I don’t know what I believe about god or Jesus.

But I do know the stories. I know who Jesus trusted. I know who was heard and who wasn’t. I know who he stood with and who he pushed against.

I like those stories.
But when I look at what’s being done in his name now, it feels MILES from the Prince of Peace I learned about.

So at some point, you have to ask, are we following what Jesus taught or just using his name… in vain

a little sharp, a little absurd, a little too true

these were the ones I kept coming back to

funny, but not really jokes
more like pressure release

so I gave them something softer to live in
something that feels like spring coming back

and somehow it all felt a little more hopeful
