I've been quiet here the last little while and wanted to pop on to say hello. I'm slowly coming out of hibernation. I've spent the "slow" season (lol... as if entrepreneurship is ever really slow) working away on lifestyle sessions, getting things organized for the season ahead and making mental space for the wonderful couples I have the privilege of documenting very soon.
As artists, I think it's so important that we also make time to slow down during the winter months, to find space for ourselves and our art to simply EXIST. No agenda. We spend so much time pouring our souls into making art for others. And while I'm fulfilled by what I do in a way that's hard to wrap up in a coherent sentence, I think creativity and self-expression inherently live in the space beyond boundaries and expectation.
Sometimes you find this magical sweet spot with clients who trust you so wholeheartedly that those boundaries start to melt away. You're left with something that feels honest to both them and yourself. I live for those moments! But there's nothing quite akin to coming back to the process. Of creating simply for the sake of creating. I would bet that's why most of us started making art in the first place; because it simply felt good. It gave us a way to channel our restless energy, thoughts and feelings.
Anyways, I did some creating for the sake of it last month. The weather had me feeling kinda s**t and in a rut. Nods to my beautiful friend, muse and fellow artist Ella for dropping everything to "come play with me" in the studio. We all need someone who just gets us! đź–¤
