Foggy days are Superior.

Out on the lake, surrounded by fog and all you can see is water. Then a shadow on a horizon looms... then the fog thins and the sharp, rocky shores offer a feint hope of safe harbor. Then the mist blows through, that glimpse dissappears, and you're alone again in the white.

Sometimes, you just need a running start.

During my first fieldwork trip this season on Superior, we were checking the status of some bird colonies in our site and happened across this singular long-tailed duck. Luckily, I had my camera in hand already and was prepared for the take off and got some great photos of it's launch!

Ive had this shot in my mind for a few years now.
A while back, the conditions lined up and made it out to the spot, waited for the lighting to be just right and did some spins!

Feeling like shaking off those winter dregs?

The "Fallout of Winter" Swing Dance event on April 25th, has your cure. The TBay Swing Dance Society is hosting in collaboration with Mark Potvin & Co. a social event to kick of the spring with a bang! 40s-50s rockabilly swing music and themed cocktails? Check. Fallout inspired cosplay contest? Check.
We will have a beginner swing dance lesson (0 experience necessary, but we recommend comfy shoes), a live band (Mark Potvin, Brad Rusnak and Mike Carson) playing a couple sets of swing classics we know and love, and a cosplay contest supported by our Friends at ThunderCon.
And I'm donating a free, half-hour mini shoot to the cosplay contest (for later use).

A few shots from Kakabeka Falls, with the beautiful ice shapes and dynamic spires that form and melt away. Took these a couple months ago on a visit to go sliding with friends. The winter fog added a soft glow to the whole area, and I couldn't resist getting a few snaps.

Had a blast at The Rock Orchestra show!
The performances were stellar, the costumes were fantastic and the SET...! The whole team absolutely blew the crowd away! Stellar performances from everyone 🤘🤘

A part of my brain ached to have my real camera in hand to photograph the show but alas, phone photos only... And also I know a few people that would love to dress up and have shoots in that set... 🕯💀💀🕯
