Thankful.

For every wedding day we’ve had the privilege of documenting. For the growing families we’ve photographed, the milestones we’ve celebrated, and the little in-between moments that will mean even more with time.

For every person who has trusted us with something important to them. A wedding day they’ve spent months dreaming about. A family that is changing before their eyes. A new business, a new season of life, or a milestone they want to remember long after the day has passed.

Thankful for the trust it takes to invite us into these moments. To let us witness the unscripted, the sentimental, the joyful, and sometimes the beautifully imperfect parts of life.

Thankful.

That we’ve been invited into beautiful places and entrusted with wonderful stories this year. That we’ve stood in rooms filled with happy tears, watched two people promise each other forever, and witnessed the kind of moments that remind us just how much meaning can be found in a single day.

Thankful.

That families have welcomed us into their homes, letting us document the season of life they’re in right now. Their daughter's busy wedding morning, the house bustling with excitement. To the quiet first days of being new parents. The ordinary, everyday things that, one day, won't feel so ordinary at all.

Thankful.

For the familiar faces who return year after year, and for the new ones who have become part of our story this year. For the referrals, the kind words, the messages, the hugs, and every little reminder that the work we do matters to someone beyond the photographs themselves.

And thankful that, after all these years, we still get to do this. To make photographs that become part of your family history. To preserve the way something felt, not just the way it looked. To give you something tangible to return to when the people in the photographs have grown, the seasons have changed, and the memories begin to soften around the edges.

Because that's the beautiful thing about photographs. We make them in the present, but their meaning only seems to grow with time.

As another year begins to wind down, I'm feeling especially grateful for every person who has invited us into their story and trusted us to tell it with care.

Thank you for being here. For choosing us. For allowing us to do work we love with people who make it meaningful.

When Jay suggested an engagement session at home and at the dog park — the two places that held so many of their early memories together — I immediately said yes.

We spent the evening making pizza, wandering through Jarett’s garden, and revisiting the little pieces of everyday life that had brought them here.

On their first date, Jarett brought Jay a sunflower from his garden. It was the last one of the season.

My favourite thing is when a love story is told through the smallest details.

The familiar places. The shared rituals. The little things that might seem ordinary to anyone else, but mean everything to the two people who share them.

Because sometimes, the most meaningful photographs aren’t about going somewhere extraordinary.

They’re about returning to the places where it all started.

Sneaking kisses in a quiet library.
The smell of old books.
Soft light falling through windows.

Tell me there’s a more romantic setting for a love story.

With the University’s Collegiate Gothic architecture rising around them, the whole scene felt a little like stepping into a novel.

And maybe that’s because this is where their story began.

They met here as first-year students, spending most of that year quietly pining for each other from afar — noticing, wondering, waiting.

Years later, they returned to the place where it all started.

Same halls.
Same old books.
Same two people who fell in love.

Some places don’t just hold memories.

They become part of the story.

She noticed him before they ever spoke.

In the boarding area in Toronto, somewhere among the strangers, carry-ons, and announcements, she saw a handsome man and thought, he’s cute.

She was from Germany.
He was from England.
Neither of them knew they were about to meet somewhere in between.

Then they boarded the flight to Saskatoon.
And somehow, he was seated right beside her.

For the entire flight, they talked.

Two people from different countries, sitting shoulder to shoulder at 30,000 feet, sharing stories with a stranger they had only just met.

By the time the plane touched down in Saskatoon, something had shifted.

What started with a glance in an airport became a conversation in the clouds.

And that conversation became a life.

Now, they’re getting married.

All because of an airline seating two strangers next to one another.

The real reason you want a two-person photography team at your wedding?

The POV of the first kiss. From both sides.

One photographer is watching the kiss unfold.

The second photographer is watching everything else.

Your mom reaching for the person beside her.
Your friends cheering.
The smiles from the front row.

Because your wedding day isn’t just about what you see.

It’s about what everyone who loves you sees, too.

And when you look back at your wedding photographs years from now, those reactions may be some of the photographs you treasure most.

That’s the real magic of having two photographers: one moment, two perspectives, and nothing important happening outside the frame.

Sometimes, community on your wedding day feels like the people filling your guest list. The parish where you say your vows. Or simply returning to your hometown because it's tradition.

But for Jade + Teryn, community became something far greater.

The night before their wedding, an unexpected summer thunderstorm rolled through, soaking everything that had been carefully set up to make the next morning a little easier. Chairs, pews, chair covers—everything was drenched.

By sunrise, their community had already gone to work.

Aunts, uncles, neighbours, and friends wrung out chair covers, dried off pews, and did whatever needed to be done. When the humidity refused to cooperate, people loaded the wet chair covers into their vehicles, took them home, and ran them through their own dryers.

Then they all came back.

Together, they rebuilt the ceremony space where Jade + Teryn would exchange their vows just a few hours later.

It's easy to think a wedding is about one day. But days like this remind us it's also about the people who quietly show up, step in without being asked, and make sure love has a place to be celebrated.

That is community. 🤍

There is something special about a wedding that takes place at home.

This weekend, we'll be celebrating these two on her family's farm just outside Humboldt. Where the fields that shaped her childhood will become the backdrop to one of the biggest days of their lives.

With Saskatchewan's July sunshine, blue skies, and plenty of heat in the forecast, it's going to be the kind of day that feels like summer was made for weddings.

These photos may have been taken last fall, but in just a few days we'll be trading golden leaves for golden wheat, and we can't wait to tell the next chapter of their story.

Here's to wide open skies, family traditions, and a beautiful beginning. 🤍
