🧙‍♀️🍂 Witches on the Water

I had so much fun photographing this crew of witches taking to the water in Hixon this weekend. Between the costumes, decorated kayaks and paddleboards, and those beautiful fall colours, there was no shortage of fun things to photograph!

Back to School — Hixon, BC 🍎📚

Sometimes a little idea turns into something even sweeter than you pictured.

I pulled out a couple of old school desks, gathered some vintage books, an apple and a chalkboard, and set up under the trees for some Back-to-School portraits.

And this little guy was an absolute dream to photograph. ❤️

Sweet, serious, silly — and even a little wolf howl or two. 🐺

I love creating portraits that feel like more than just a school photo — something with personality that families will want to keep.

📚🍎 Back-to-School Portraits — This Sunday!

The little school desks are ready, the pencils are sharpened, and I’m all set for some Back-to-School fun! ❤️

I’ll be offering free Back-to-School portraits for Hixon kids this Sunday, September 13.

No appointments — just come on down to the Hixon Hall anytime between 10-12pm and I’ll photograph the kids as they arrive.

School clothes, favourite outfit, backpack or no backpack — whatever feels like them.

Just a little something fun for the kids and families in our community. 🍎📚

I can’t wait to see some little faces at these desks!

📍 Hixon friends! 🍎📚

I haven’t had my camera out nearly enough lately, and I’ve decided it’s time to change that — and do something fun for our little community at the same time.

I’m thinking about putting together a FREE Back-to-School Portrait Day for Hixon kids!

Not your traditional school photos. 😉 I’m picturing fun, natural outdoor portraits — backpacks, books, apples and even a couple of old-school desks I’ve been hanging onto that might finally have found their purpose. 😂

For a location, I’m thinking either around the Hixon school/playground or the Hixon Community Hall grounds — both have some great outdoor spots that I think would work beautifully.

I would of course want to make sure I have permission to use whichever location we choose, so if anyone knows who I should speak to about using either the school grounds or the Community Hall grounds for something like this, please let me know!

Every child would receive one edited digital portrait from Shelley Hoffmann Photography, completely free. ❤️

I’m just tossing the idea around right now and seeing if there’s interest before I get too carried away. 😂

Looking back at this grad session still makes me smile.

Sam waited until October for her photos because she wanted the fall colours — and she absolutely chose the perfect time. It was cold and windy, but she toughed it out like the good farm girl she is.

One of my favourite moments was when she stepped into the pasture with the cows. That calf beside her is one she raised from a baby, which made the photo even more special.

These are the kinds of grad portraits I love creating — capturing not just the milestone, but the person and the places that shaped them.
