Before Courtney walked down the aisle, she stood beside her dad.

He opened Scripture and read it over his daughter before the ceremony began.

No posing. No looking at the camera. No direction from me.

Just a father, his daughter, and a quiet moment together before one of the biggest moments of her life.

These are the moments I’ve always loved photographing.

The ones that happen between the big moments.
The ones you might not think to ask your photographer to capture.
The ones that, years later, become some of the photographs you treasure most.

This is why I photograph weddings. 🤍

Not just how the day looked — but how it felt.

I think I’m finally ready to show you what I’ve been trying to photograph all along. 🤎

This is an image I’ve loved for years.

It was from Jamecia and Shane’s wedding in Canmore, back when I was travelling all over Alberta chasing beautiful places to photograph beautiful people.

But looking at it now, years later, I think I understand why I’ve always loved it so much.

I know these two very well. I got to know Jamecia and Shane through photography, and somewhere along the way, they became so much more than clients to me.

And I think that’s part of what I’ve always loved about this job.

It isn’t just about showing up with a camera.

It’s about getting to know people. Hearing their stories. Watching their lives unfold. Being invited into these incredibly personal moments and somehow turning them into something they can hold onto forever.

This photograph isn’t perfectly posed.

They aren’t looking at the camera.

It isn’t even really about the landscape.

It’s about two people moving through a place together.

The trees.
The light.
The dress.
Shane wearing the traditional RCMP colours in his suit.
That little glimpse of turquoise water through the trees.

All of it matters.

But somehow, the photograph is really about them.

And after 15 years of doing this, I think I’m finally understanding what it is I want to photograph.

I don’t want to simply photograph what your wedding looked like.

I want to photograph what it felt like.

The quiet moments.
The ridiculous ones.
The moments you didn’t know anyone was watching.
The way he looks at you when he thinks nobody is looking.
The way your dress moves when you run.
The people you love, exactly as they were in that moment.

The photographs that take you right back there.

That’s the kind of photographer I want to be.

And maybe the funny thing is…

I think I’ve been becoming her for a very long time.

So I’m going to start showing you a little more of what I see.

Something new is coming.

And I have a feeling it’s going to feel a lot more like me. 🤎

🤍 Well… I have something to tell you.

I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about what I wanted this next chapter of my photography journey to look like.

A little while ago, I shared that I was planning to step away from wedding photography. At the time, I truly believed it was the right decision for me.

But then something happened…

I started thinking about what a summer without weddings would actually look like.

And honestly? I don’t think I’m ready for that.

For the last 15 years, I have poured so much of my life into this business. I started this journey when I was so much younger, and somewhere along the way, photography became more than a career — it became a huge part of who I am.

Fifteen years is almost half of my life. 😂 And when you put it that way, I suppose it makes sense why the idea of simply walking away has been so incredibly difficult.

The more I thought about it, the more I realized just how much of my heart is still in this.

Wedding photography has given me so much more than beautiful photographs. It has given me friendships, relationships, incredible couples, unforgettable moments, and the privilege of being invited into some of the most meaningful days of people’s lives.

I’ve watched this business grow. I’ve watched myself grow alongside it. And when I really sat with the thought of letting it all go, my heart just kept telling me…

“You’re not done yet.” 🤍

So, after a lot of thought, I’ve made the decision that I am NOT leaving the wedding photography industry.

I’m going to keep photographing weddings.
I’m going to keep telling your stories.
I’m going to keep showing up with my camera, my heart, and probably way too many emotions behind it. 😂

And I want to be honest about something…

I was nervous to share this.

I worried that people might see this as me changing my mind or being uncertain. But I’ve realized that sometimes we have to give ourselves permission to change our minds when our hearts become clearer.

And mine has become very clear.

I love this.

I love the people.
I love the stories.
I love the chaos.
I love the happy tears.
I love the little moments that nobody else notices.
I love being there when two people promise each other forever.

And I simply cannot imagine spending an entire summer without getting to do that.

So… I’m staying. 🤍

To every couple who has trusted me with their wedding day, every person who has supported my photography over the years, every friend I’ve made along the way, and everyone who has cheered me on…

Thank you.

I’m so incredibly grateful that this chapter isn’t ending just yet.

In fact…

I think we’re just getting started. 📸🤍

Some of the best love stories start when we are too young to truly understand what it really is. Then, something in the universe pulls you in different directions only to bring you back to right where you left off.

Courtney & Carter shared their heartfelt and long awaited vows during a small backyard ceremony. When I say my jaw dropped when I walked into the back yard I am not even close to joking. From the lush green grass, to the stunning pergola where they exchanged the rings everything was perfect as could be.

After they said their I Do's, we were off to capture family and wedding party portraits before settling in at eighteen91 & the Ponoka Golf Club for and evening of laughs, good food, cold drinks and what I imagine turned into one heck of a night full of dancing and karaoke!

Congratulations to this incredible couple! I wish you all the best in this new chapter in your lives.
