A progression of photos zooming in for some interesting perspectives and then a final one of the patterns of the skyscrapers in Toronto. This sculpture “Moments Contained” is a 9’ tall bronze by artist Thomas J Price and stands outside the Art Gallery of Ontario. Casual and immense, the sculpture makes us re-think about who gets chosen to be featured in public art. It’s a beautiful, fascinating work that plays well and interacts with the people walking by. Have you seen her?

The Magic of Seeing Your images on Paper

As photographers, we invest time, effort, and creativity into making images we're proud of - yet very few of those images ever leave the screen. They get shared on social media, entered in competitions, and viewed on monitors, but then they disappear into an ever-growing digital archive. A print gives a photograph a physical presence and permanence. It creates a tangible connection between the photographer and the viewer. And it invites viewers to slow down and engage with the image rather than simply scroll past it. Join local representatives from Henry’s and the Canon Print Shop to learn everything you need to know about bringing your images to life through print. Whether you already have your own printer, or have been thinking about buying one, or prefer to outsource the printing to the experts, this lively and informative session will help you understand different photo printer technologies, selecting and preparing your images for print, choosing the right paper, and more.

This is an in-person meeting on Thursday October 1st from 7:30-9:30pm at the Mississauga Senior Center at 1389 Cawthra Road. [email protected] Free to members. $10 for guests.

🧡🖤🧡 Dance of the butterflies. Intent on feasting on nectar rich Tithonia rotundifolia, these monarchs get ready for favourable winds to help them on their journey from here in Mississauga , Ontario all the way to Mexico. It’s an astonishing feat. Tithonia is a native plant to Mexico but the Canadian born monarchs love it. In a garden with a huge choice of native plants, tithonia was by far the most popular which makes me want to plant some for next year 🧡🖤🧡

Reflection of Port Credit lighthouse after the storm ⛈️ The pavement is giving galaxy vibes (part 3-see previous posts for other views) 🌌 Details like this are often hiding in plain sight. I turned the photo upside down so while we recognize the scene, it is unexpected. Photos like this make me happy.

Mississauga’s Port Credit lighthouse after the storm (part 2) How wonderful is the light? The sunset was spectacular and the reflection of the standing water on the newly paved parking lot sublime 😃 This photo was taken with my iPhone and edited with Snapseed.

A photo featuring a hotdog-head person sitting near us at the Blue Jays game. Lol. She seemed pretty focused on getting on tv, I hope she did. Tuesday nights are Loonie Dog Nights at Home Blue Jays baseball games at the Rogers Centre, and fans regularly crush 100,000 dogs.
I wanted to play with the photo I took and tried a new non-digital technique to give it a painterly feel 🌭🌭🌭🌭🌭🌭🌭🌭 💙⚾️

Incoming! Common Eastern bumblebee finds a pollen meal on the grey-headed coneflower which is just starting to bloom in our native plant garden. It’s a graceful plant with it’s flower heads floating on thin stems. Did you know this bee is just one of approximately 400 native bee species in Ontario? Many are solitary, ground or stem nesting bees. Honey bees get a lot of airtime but are not native, not threatened, and directly compete for very limited food resources.
