As of August 2nd, the EU's AI Act requires AI generated images to be machine readable and labelled as synthetic. Ad Standards Canada updated its guidelines last October, asking brands to disclose when an image was generated or significantly altered by AI.

None of this bans AI images. It just makes them visible.

So the question for brands stops being can we get away with it, and starts being what does it say about us when the customer can see the label.

This shoot was Danger Coffee's creatine launch. It sits alongside their coffee and speaks to the same people, but it's a genuinely new product. Creatine monohydrate blended with Danger Dust, their humic and fulvic trace minerals.

Here's the honest part. These images look clean. Clean enough that you could look at them and wonder whether they were generated.

What you can't see is everything underneath.

Nearly two years of learning this brand. Knowing how they actually use their images, so there's space where their type needs to land.

Dramatic light that falls correctly in every way. Real hands, the actual texture of the product - never an approximation, the real thing. It's in the way the light falls across the pouch. The bit of crinkle.

Real images build trust. Generated ones leave a question sitting there instead. What is their product really like?

As time goes on we will continue to see more images and design that all kind of looks the same. It lacks originality, real grain, and something just kind of 'off' about it that you can't tell what it is, but I can look and say that light doesn't actually fall that way.

Brands that invest in real photography and design will stand out in a market where everything is blending into one generic look. It makes me sad to see it, but I'm also excited for the brands that really value it.

The brief for TrueDark was a full launch library. Product, headshots, hero and lifestyle, all of it built to hold together on one site.

The product images were the foundation. Every frame on the exact same background, natural shadows, no cutting corners, because these sit in a grid on a shop page where any drift in colour or tone is obvious. That part is less about the shoot and more about the edit. Precision work.

For the headshots we brought in four models to show the frames on different face shapes. Same t-shirt on everyone, same angles, same lighting, same edit. They were shot across two sessions and you would never know looking at them.
The hero images are where we pushed. TrueDark is a high end brand and they did not want to look like every other eyewear company, so we went editorial. A little edgy. Not boring.

Lifestyle kept that same energy. Styled with purpose, shot in an Airbnb, same models carried through so the whole thing still reads as one story.
What comes out the other end is a catalogue that actually follows their brand standards across every category, instead of four folders that happen to feature the same product.

We took 13 years building a home that we love.

A kitchen that has a massive island for any entertaining, the garden that took a decade of bare feet and experimenting and loving every moment of it, the sunroom that feels like magic at almost any time of day and turns gold every evening.

We’re ready for a new adventure, and we would love this house to go to someone who falls in love with it the way we did. Today we dropped our price to $550,000, down from $575,000. That $25,000 is a head start on the two things people kept gently telling us. Garage and windows.

Garage: 12,650 sq ft cul-de-sac lot, R1A. Room tp build a detached 26 x 26 ft double in the back. Currently at 15% coverage on a permitted 40%.

Original windows. Priced so you can replace them if you want to.

Square Footage: 1,586 sq ft on the listing. Sunroom isn’t counted. Real above-grade space is closer to 1,857, plus finished basement

Open house Saturday August 22, 1 to 3.

Happy 18th my little Lacey Bug. I love you Lacey wood 🤍 ❤️ It’s been a year of growth, learning about you, about myself, figuring out how to navigate so much. I’m so proud of you for continuing to show up, try, love big and laugh. Your creativity and big heart are a joy to watch. I can’t wait to see what the big city has in store for you!

Preparing myself to leave is hard tonight. I’m leaving a home I’ve raised my babies in. The home I fell in love with the minute I walked into it. A space I’ve reinvented 10,000 times, intentionally built to be lived in and loved in. I’m so happy and excited to start a new adventure but I can’t help but want to hang on a little longer to this space, my friends, my kids… in this version of myself. I suppose I can feel two things at once. ❤️💔

Happy birthday babe.

I’ve had you for 22 birthdays, and it hasn’t always been easy. But what I’ve learned is that we fit. You are the yin to my yang, the cool to my heat. My counterweight, my compass, my anchor.

We have had some really hard times in the last 22 years but we keep climbing back into each other’s arms and I wouldn’t change it for the world.

At 53 you’re still handsome as hell. Like annoyingly so… but you’re my handsome hubby and I’m keeping you.

Side note: They literally call him Hollywood at work because he’s so damn pretty with a British accent to boot.

You’ve had an amazing year. You went to the Amazon to live with an actual tribe this year! You have exceeded personal and work goals. You show up every day whether you want to or not for our family. You love our kids with the biggest, softest heart.

And you love me, unconditionally, wholeheartedly, even when I don’t make it easy.

Happy birthday, babe. I love you. I’m keeping you for another 22.

P.S. Does anyone know where to get the best carrot cake? Because I absolutely cannot bake. And it’s his favourite.

If you hate peonies & roses, this is not the house for you!

I’ve worked hard for the last 12 years to create our own little oasis, and my favourite flowers are peonies. I am honestly not even sure how many varieties I have now. Roses didn’t used to be a fave but I’ve planted a few that have just gone crazy so they have grown on me.

Anyway. Flower lovers only. There will be an application form to view the house with your gardening expertise. Kidding… kind of. 😁 We can do that right ?

Hoping to have all my ducks in a row to list June 1.
