Laura and Bryan on film 🎞️

I was on vacation in PEI and, just by chance, was staying near a meaningful place for Bryan and Laura. So how could we not take it as a sign to get their engagement photos there?! They left work in Halifax a little early on Friday after their busy days to meet me on the beach, only to be welcomed by the most beautiful sunset. It felt like they were rewarded for the hard work it took them to make this happen 🥹🩷

They are the best kind of people and I can't wait to capture their day at one of my favourite venues, summer!

The Nova Scotia evening we wait all winter for showed up for Erin and Zach. They had so many people come from away that it almost felt like maybe we could convince them that this is the kinda day that Nova Scotia offers all our summer weddings lol. Such a sweet and loving couple deserved the perfect summer weather and I loved getting to work with some of the most talented and lovely vendors too ❤️

Jessica and Jesse's beautiful day where all the things went smoothly and calmly. Lots to do with the incredible vendors involved but also a huge testament to how relaxed and go with the flow these wonderful people were.

On another more nerdy, photography related note; I continue to grow and have so much fun with my off camera flash as of late and I have to hype up BECK — DIGITAL + FILM 's incredible lighting course for giving me the nudge to try some new things. I rarely finish any course I purchase 🙃 but this one I not only finished but it was exactly what I needed to take my ideas and put them into action. Just had to shout out my bud for the value she provides others as always 😘.

It's a vulnerable experience asking someone to come into your home to take photos of you and your crazy kids. All I can tell you is that I was a social worker for 8 years before being a photographer and I spent years going into homes with a lot of pain and challenges. So your stained rug, messy bedroom and insane toddler are lovely problems to have and you're lucky to have them (as am I, even when I don't always feel like it).

This beautiful family are neighbours and friends 🩷 I've gotten a chance to watch this sweet crew grow over the years alongside my own family and it makes being asked to do family photos that much sweeter. Doesn't hurt that their could be in a J Crew catalogue 🙂‍↕️

Being bad at something (learning film) has improved my creativity ten fold 🫡 I love that film has made me think behind the camera again. It's easy for me to get into sort of a flow state once I figure out what works and to just lean into what works until it becomes second nature aka my brain loses interest (I'm sure this applies in lots of areas of my life) but what I love about owning my own business and being in a creative field is that there is literally no ceiling. The limitations are my own. I constantly crave growth in this field and I can be incredibly stubborn thinking I can always grow on my own, but the more I let myself be vulnerable and ask for help, the more fulfilled I become. Investing in myself as a full human and not just in my business has given me more and more clarity on what is possible when I put my attention to something. Just my little Ted talk for the day. Love ya and can't wait to catch up with sharing a million more photos over the last couple months.
