Went out to smell the roses in our back garden and found someone had beaten me to it! Nestled in the petals was a tiny Pacific Tree Frog! It had picked the most fragrant plant as well. Looked quite content!!

Last year while at Butchart Gardens near Victoria I found a large planter full of Zinnia plants in full flower. They were covered in bees! The flower was very attractive so I tracked down the variety planted some seeds this spring and now have a good display in our garden here. Sure enough have Zinnias have bees!! Going to plant more next year, and a plus they flower through the summer! If anyone is interested in this particular variety of Zinnia its called Zahara Sunburst, may only be found online through a seed site as its not a common variety. , , ,

Havent posted much recently but today I encountered a large flock of tiny bush t**s. Not much bigger than an adult hummingbird, and never sit sit still, always on the move. Wasnt long before the flock moved on but managed to grab some shots. Not spectacular colors but very charming and entertaining little birds, always happy to see them. **s

It’s that time of year again around ponds and lakes, Red Wing blackbirds are getting ready to nest. Caught these three by a local pond, the female collecting nesting material from the cattails from last year.
