Let’s talk colours.
Look, I don’t want to tell you what to wear to your session. I don’t know if you’re a dress kind of girl, or if you’d rather live in jeans and a sweater. That’s why I always ask.
I don’t want you rocking up to your session feeling overdressed, uncomfortable, or like you’re wearing something that just isn’t you. It’s not fun for anyone when you can’t relax and be yourself.
I will always encourage you to wear whatever makes you feel comfortable and confident.
But... I know picking colours can be hard, so I made this colour palette for those of you who have absolutely no idea where to start. These are my go to colours. Beautiful earthy tones work so much better with my editing style than bright, vibrant colours, which is why you’ll see these shades pop up throughout my galleries.
And seeing as we’re in winter, don’t be afraid to bring in the textures! Wool knits, corduroy, chunky sweaters, linen blends, jackets, beanies, scarves, all those beautiful layers add so much depth and warmth to your images. Texture photographs beautifully and can make a simple outfit look incredible.
This isn’t a strict rulebook, and I’m definitely not expecting you to go buy a whole new wardrobe. It’s simply a guide to help if you’re feeling stuck.
At the end of the day, I’d rather have you show up feeling comfortable in something you love than wearing the “perfect” outfit that doesn’t feel like you.
Because the best photos happen when you’re simply being yourself.

And yes, I will in fact squeeze my ass into your pantry if it means I get the shot 🥹

A post from another photographer yesterday had me thinking all night about the way we project ourselves online.
Because if you've followed me for more than five minutes, you'll know I'm a bit of a menace.

I overshare. I make questionable jokes. I have an incredible ability to say the wrong thing at exactly the wrong time, and professionalism is usually something I rehearse in the car on the way to most sessions.

Then you look at my work.

It's full of love, warmth, connection and emotion.

For the longest time, I thought those two things didn't make sense together.

But I think I've finally realised they do.

It's taken me a long time to love the person I am.

Years ago, I would've hidden parts of myself. I would've tried to fit the mould of what I thought a photographer should look like online. More polished. More serious. More curated.

Instead, I've slowly become comfortable enough to just be me.

A menace with a camera.

And maybe that's exactly why I see people the way I do.

When you've spent years learning to accept yourself, you stop searching for perfection in everyone else.

You notice the real things.

The way someone looks at the person they love.

The tears they're trying not to cry.

The belly laughs.

The chaos.

The connection.

The moments that matter most.

So no, my personality probably doesn't match the aesthetic of my photos.

But the heart behind them does.

Because behind both is the same person.

Someone who loves deeply, feels deeply, laughs loudly, and occasionally says the wrong thing at exactly the wrong time.

And after a long time spent learning how, I finally love her too

It’s Wednesday, and Wednesday means washing, cleaning, folding… and not a whole lot else. 😂

I’m trying to smash through all the housework early so I can finally sit down and get some editing done.

This afternoon I’ve got an “Already a Memory” session, which I’m super excited about! With the weather not looking crash hot this weekend, we decided to bring it forward a few days.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got a mountain of laundry calling my name. 🫠

How’s everyone else spending their Wednesday?

I had the pleasure of working alongside Em and Johnny over the weekend, and honestly, I had so much fun.

Thinking about it, I don't actually get the chance to work with other photographers very often, so it was such a nice change. We worked so well as a team, bounced ideas off each other, and spent most of the day laughing.

Although I'm starting to think my clumsiness is contagious... because Johnny somehow found a hole and went straight into it. 🤣

In all seriousness though, these two were an absolute pleasure to work with. Good people, great photographers, and they made the day even more enjoyable.
Looking forward to doing it again someday. 🤍📸

Also, like this post and I might even post the bts footage of Johnny nearly eating s**t 🤣

Ahhh, one of my pregnant mamas has had her little bubba, and guess what's even more exciting?
I've been invited into their home for newborn photos. 🥹
This actually makes me want to cry happy tears.
It doesn't matter how many sessions I do, the second I send a gallery off, the overthinking begins. I get notifications when clients open their galleries, so if there's a delay in communication, my brain immediately starts creating stories.
For about 30 seconds I'm convinced they've passed out from loving the photos so much...
Then the panic sets in and I'm wondering if they secretly hate every single image. 🤣
So when a client messages me asking for another session, it honestly means the world. Not because it's another booking, but because it tells me they trusted me with their memories the first time and want me there for the next chapter too.
And that's something I'll never take for granted. ❤
