Recently I had Patrick in the studio as he wanted to update his actors profile. He had 5 distinct roles he wanted captured. It is a lot of fun working with actors and actresses...they love to 'get' into the role and play to the camera.

Not all images make the cut...but every now and then there is an image that as the photographer I can choose to like even if the client hasn't. It may not suit their purpose...for this session. However what I absolutely love is catching those idle moments when the client isn't focused on the job at hand...not paying attention to 'playing' the part. Just in a moment of reflection, thinking about something else...and snap. Everything just comes together. You feel it don't you. You connect. Is this perfect hell no... but does it resonate...it does with me.

You never know who’s going to pop by when you are remote working at a local cafe/wine bar. Thanks Tiffany D Sheather from Vali Garage for stopping for a chat while I was at pressd.coffee.wine in between meetings.

What I totally loved was asking how Tiff was going and chatting about ways to genuinely connect with their audience… even the ones they haven’t connected with yet. I hadn’t caught up with Tiff for ages so it was a lovely opportunity.

In the cacophony of social media how do you cut through the noise and truly connect in your business?

Clifford Park Racecourse this year was epic. The weather was amazing, the crowds were full of energy and as always the food and beverages were constantly flowing.

Thanks to Cameraboy Co. and Cortex Media for coming on board and helping to cover the multiple areas on the day. These guys are so much fun and professional to work with. I know I can count on them when the big jobs are called.

For the past few years I have captured most of the Toowoomba Chamber of Commerce Business @ Dusk events and I must say last nights had a different feel. Our hosts last night were TRACTION for Young People and I just love how many genuinely caring people were there representing this NFP all in the aim to ensure our young are heard and have a sense of belonging.

With all the regional leadership work I have enjoyed and still learning...one thing I know for sure is that when people feel a belonging, a community is much more united and open to listening.

I was also genuinely excited about all the upcoming changes to this years Business Excellence Awards with Clifford Gouldson Lawyers announced as the Naming Partners. It has such a good ring to it. Also the applications this year will all be judged by outside parties and there is major changes to the way the awards night will be as well. If you are in business I invite you to apply for one of the numerous categories available. Do not wait for a nomination...stand up and be seen.

Buoyed by the way CEO Tanaya Treadwell is taking on all the feedback over the past few years to ensure this regions business excellence awards are held in the esteem to which this business community deserves.

When Di Farmer MP acknowledged how amazing the Toowoomba community really is I felt honoured to live here and be a part of this beautiful community.

Do you remember the Empowering Women: Visual Conversations exhibition held in March 2024?

Those gorgeous 3m long black and white banners are sitting rolled up in a dark corner. Which makes me very sad.

These images are more than photos. They are a small representation of our community. The hearts and souls of these 6 inspiring women who have changed so much even since this amazing exhibition are still part of our fabric.

Where can we house these pieces of art so that they continue to spark conversation and the ripples of change carry on.

Should we somehow get funding for a community showing? Should they go on the road and be a feature for IWD in March somewhere. I dont know. I just think it is such a waste that they are not out there.

Enjoying a lovely coffee at the new Soul Kitchen Co. while I edit a family session I did last week in the Toowoomba Botanical Garden I don’t often do family sessions but when someone asks me to help preserve these moments a 90th birthday with all the children that rarely get together how can I say no? this is what I went into business for to capture those moments to preserve history.
