Colour, for the warmth — the cream wraps, the golden light, the little flush in her cheeks.
Black and white, for everything colour can't say. Just the details. The curl of a fist. The furrow between tiny brows. The way light falls across a newborn profile when nothing else is competing for your eye.

There is one pose I come back to in almost every newborn session. 🌿
Not because it is the most complex. Not because it requires the most setup. But because every single time — without fail — there is a moment in the studio when parents see their baby curled into this pose and I hear it — that quiet little wow. And then the gallery arrives and that wow happens all over again. 💛
The tummy pose.
Something about it just works.
Same baby. Same setup. Four completely different stories. 💛
And this is exactly why I deliver complete galleries — because sometimes one pose, captured from four different angles, tells you more about a brand new human than anything else we did that day. 🌸

These are the images that would never have made it into a traditional package. The ones that used to get left behind on a hard drive, unseen and unchosen — because there was simply no room for them in a set number of edited shots.
The dummy still in. The same setup from a slightly different angle that somehow tells a completely different story. The split second before the cry — that little face scrunching up, warning us what was coming. 😄 And that moment where a parent leans in with a kiss trying to convince a very unconvinced baby that everything is absolutely fine.
These are not the hero shots. But they are real. And they are beautiful in a completely different way. 💛
And now — every single one of them goes home with the family.
Because that is exactly why I changed the way I work. No more leaving the beautiful moments behind. No more hard drives full of images nobody ever sees.

Not every newborn session goes to script. And this one? This little man had absolutely zero interest in sleeping. 😄🌿
At five weeks old he came into the studio wide awake, full of opinions and completely determined to show us exactly who he is. And honestly — we are so glad he did.
Because what we captured instead was something even more beautiful than the classic sleepy newborn portraits.
Those wide alert eyes taking in the whole world for the first time. The tiny expressions that change in a split second. And those first family portraits — three people becoming a family — with so much love in the room you could practically feel it through the lens. 💛
This is what I want you to know — there is no such thing as a "bad" newborn session. Awake or asleep, curly or wriggly, settled or not — every baby tells their own story. And every story is worth capturing exactly as it is.

Can I be honest with you for a moment? 💛
These are challenging times for a lot of people — and my business is not static and never has been. I have always believed that if something isn't serving my clients the way it should, it needs to change.
The old model — delivering only a handful of retouched images — made sense once. But somewhere along the way it started feeling like I was rationing memories. And that never sat right with me.
Your newborn is only this tiny for days.
Your bump is only this round for weeks.
Your family is only this age right now.
Every single moment from our session together deserves to be kept. Not just the ten most perfect ones.
So I changed. And I am not going back.

Let's talk about the elephant in the room. 🐘
As a photographer one of the hardest parts of this job is having a session that moves you — genuinely takes your breath away — and not being able to share a single image of it.
And it happens more than you might think.
Some of my most beautiful, most meaningful sessions are sitting quietly on a hard drive, unseen by anyone outside of the family they were made for. And I respect that completely — privacy is a personal choice and I will always honour it.
But here is what I want you to know — if you have chosen to keep your session private there are still beautiful ways to support the work I do and help other families find me:
💛 Tell a friend — word of mouth is the most powerful thing in my world. If you loved your experience please tell someone. A text to a pregnant friend, a mention in a mums group, a recommendation to a colleague — it means everything.

Six years apart. Same family. Same love. And now — one more. 💛
This beautiful family first came to my studio six years ago — just the three of them, a chapter that felt complete and perfect in its own right.
And then life had other ideas.
They came back recently and I cannot tell you what it felt like to photograph them again. The same faces. The same warmth. The same connection — just bigger now. Fuller. With a brand new tiny person who has absolutely no idea yet just how loved they already are.
This is why I do what I do.
Not just to take beautiful photographs — but to be trusted with the chapters. The before and the after. The family you were and the family you are becoming.

Here is something I want to share with you — something I don't think photographers talk about enough. 📷
A few weeks ago this beautiful family of three came into my studio. Mum, dad and their teenage daughter — and like most people who walk through my door, it took a little time to settle in. A few takes. A few laughs. A moment where everyone forgets the camera is even there.
And then — the stacked heads portrait happened. 😄
You know the one. Everyone leaning in, cheek to cheek, trying desperately not to laugh hysterically — and absolutely failing.
That is the image they will be printing for their wall. I guarantee it. 💛
But here is what I want you to know — in between those big laughing moments there were quiet ones too. Tender ones. Real ones. And because of the way I now work, every single one of them made it into their gallery. Not just the highlights. Not just the perfectly posed portraits. All of it.
The technology I invest in allows me to deliver a complete, beautifully colour graded gallery — every keeper image from our session, processed to a consistently high standard. Every laugh, every almost-laugh, every quiet in between moment.
The hand polishing — the detailed skin work, the finishing touches — that still happens on their selected hero portraits. That part is still very much done by human hands. Mine.
But every other image? Still beautiful. Still colour graded. Still absolutely worth treasuring.
Technology changed. My standards didn't.

This is where it all begins. 🌿
Three people in a room — and somehow the world has completely shifted on its axis.
There is something I believe deeply — a couple becomes a family the moment a child arrives. Not before. Not after. Right in that moment when everything you thought you knew about love quietly makes way for something bigger, something you had no words for until now.
This beautiful little family came to the studio recently as part of the Bump to Baby Bundle — and I want to be completely honest with you. It was not an easy session. Baby girl had her own very clear ideas about the day — lots of feeding, lots of nappy changes, wide awake for most of it and absolutely determined to keep us on our toes. 😄
And yet.
In between all of it — in the quiet moments when she finally settled into her dad's arms and her mum leaned in just like that — there it was. That look. That feeling. That tiny brand new family of three that did not exist this time last year.
She was almost four weeks old and already completely in charge. 💛
This is why I do what I do. 🌸

There is something about Autumn light that just cannot be replicated. 🍂
Softer. Warmer. More golden than any other time of year — and last night it did not disappoint.
This beautiful family of three came to the park just around the corner from my studio for their golden hour mini session and honestly? The light had its own ideas. It shifted, it glowed, it surprised us — and we just went with it.
Not everyone walks into a session camera-ready and that is perfectly okay. Most of us are used to a quick phone snap — not a professional lens. It takes a moment to relax, to forget the camera is even there, to just be yourself.
And that is exactly what I am here for. A little guidance, a little patience and suddenly — there you are. Just your family, exactly as you are, in the most beautiful light. 💛
