I was recently reminded of my visit to Uganda in 2014. It was primarily a fundraiser for the African Children's choir, but at the end of the trip I added a safari to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest to see the gorillas, and Queen Elizabeth Park. I took a travel camera- a Lumix bridge camera f/2.8 and a whole 12mp. so not super quality pics but nevertheless some good memories of seeing these magnificent creatures so close.
Yes we had armed guards as well as guides in Bwindi. We were lucky to be allocated the closest gorilla family at Bwindi so it wasnt a long walk.
