I’m in the thick of motherhood, like many of you, and often the day to day feels hard and messy.

Yet on the other side, I have the honour of capturing the beauty in motherhood for many beautiful mamas and their babies.

I live and breathe that.

Romanticising a season that feels relentless, exhausting, so each mama can see the little glimmers that exist.

Because when you’re in the thick of it, it’s hard to remember…
the smiles, the laughter, the way you’re adored.

And the way they look at you.

What no one tells you when you start a little photography biz…

How much you’ll love seeing the same families, mums and their little loves, grow and change over the years.

From last breastfeeding moments to new siblings to navigating the pre teen years.

A toddler who’s come out of their shell and now loves the camera.

The kiddies that hug me when we say goodbye because they’re so familiar with me now and they love our time together.

And the babies I rock to sleep in every newborn session.

All these little moments are so humbling. They’re not work.
They’re love, they’re passion and they’re full of heart.

It’s my favourite part of this ‘little biz’.

Can we talk about perfection?

Every mama I talk too, expresses ‘perfection’ in one way or another. Acceptance of less is not easy.

And I get it!
Covered in milk or food.
Mum bun 24/7.
Did I shower today?
Why are my kids acting so crazy?
I just want one nice photo with my kids!

We want proof that we are ‘put together’ and there are ‘nice’ moments.
But who for?!

I’ve gone into my own family and motherhood sessions, wanting perfection. Wanting it to play out how it does in my head.
Yet it never does.
Enter: disappointment and frustration.

Over the years I’ve learnt to let go.
Of the expectation.
Of the ideals.
Of the ‘perfect’ picture.

Because when you strip away all of that, you’re met with connection, love, adoration and moments that are unexpected but capture your heart. More than you could’ve ever envisioned! And these are the highlights of a session.

So take this as a sign to embrace the chaos, meet your kids where they’re at and be in the moment. Let go of perfection.
Your little ones just want you.
