It’s not the Whitsundays… it’s Yeppoon. 💎🌊

The water off Kemp Beach was glowing shades of emerald and turquoise today, with Bluff Rock (known locally as Ironpot), passing sailboats and the Keppel Islands providing the perfect backdrop.
The Capricorn Coast was really putting on a show for Queensland’s birthday.

Some of the best views in Australia are right in our own backyard.

From one of Australia’s major cattle-selling centres to Springers Lagoon, the towering ABC radio mast and the reservoirs overlooking the Capricorn Highway, this is Gracemere from above.

Home to one of Australia’s major cattle-selling centres, operating since 1953, Gracemere has long played an important role in Central Queensland’s beef industry.

The ABC transmission tower stands around 200 metres tall and has been broadcasting across Central Queensland for decades, making it one of the most recognisable landmarks on the western side of Rockhampton.

Can you remember when the reservoirs were painted?

What else would you like to see featured around Gracemere?

The Fitzroy River putting on a perfect sunset this evening for the first day of Winter.
Not a cloud in the sky, the water like glass, and the Rockhampton skyline reflecting across the river.

Some evenings in Central Queensland just speak for themselves.

A couple of stills from above at this morning’s Waves of Hope Car Cruise for Cancer.

Great to see such a solid turnout before the cruise headed off, all in support of an important cause.

The footage from this morning has also been posted to the page.

A great turnout this morning for the Waves of Hope car cruise for Cancer.

I captured a bit of the meeting area before the cars rolled out, followed by the departure as everyone hit the road in support of a cause that touches so many families.

Plenty of colour, chrome, noise and community spirit on show.

After decades of campaigning, petitions and election promises, Gracemere’s long awaited high school is finally moving from talk to delivery.

The new secondary school is planned for the corner of Johnson Rd and Lucas St, with stage 1 set to open for years 7 and 8 in 2028.

Construction is expected to start by term 4, 2026, with the first stage to include classrooms, specialist learning areas, courts and an oval.

Once fully complete, the campus is planned to cater for up to 1,500 students and 120 staff.

Did you know Rockhampton’s water was once pumped from Yaamba to the Mt Charlton water treatment plant, where it was treated before being gravity fed through Rockhampton’s early water supply network?

The system started in 1926 and was eventually replaced around 1971, but parts of the old infrastructure are still sitting quietly in the landscape today.

This is the short version - the full 2.5 minute video is now up on YouTube.

Sold for $5.75 million! Bidding has closed on The Plaza Hotel site in Rockhampton. The 66 room site was snapped up by an investor who currently owns several hotels around the country.

How much did you think it would go for?

Sunrise from above “The Saddle” halfway up Mt Archer.

Yesterday was a morning where the fog looked more like an ocean flowing through the ranges.

This morning was meant to be purely for photos, but I just couldn’t help myself. Here are a couple of clips from this morning, taken from Mt Archer. 2nd last clip is looking back down Pilbeam Dr towards Rockhampton.

Most of the city had a bit of a blanket on it, but the view from here was spectacular. One of those mornings where the view from above was absolutely worth the early start.

Video first… photos still to come 📸
