While in Port Moresby I had the privilege of visiting Bomana War Cemetery. My Grandfather was stationed in PNG during the war, so this holds personal significance. Thankfully he came home but many of his fellow soldiers and friends lost their lives defending our freedoms. It should also be acknowledged that many PNG citizens also lost their lives helping the allied forces repel the Japanese forces.. “The cemetery contains 3,824 Commonwealth burials of the Second World War, 699 of them unidentified.”
