🇮🇩A departure from the wilds of Sumatra, it’s important to see all sides of nature travel in Indonesia. This Balinese macaque was, for better or worse, used to humans being around. It made for a much more controlled encounter than I had with the siamangs and orangutans but I found it no less interesting watching our relatives interact with us!

🇮🇩It isn’t just orangutans up in the trees of Gunung Leuser, some of the world’s most spectacular singers also call these mountain forests home, siamangs!

They’ve long been on of my favourite animals and being able to photograph a swinging troop up in the mountains of Sumatra was beyond my wildest dreams! And their songs through the morning air were hauntingly beautiful🎶

🇮🇩Photographing wild Sumatran orangutans is, without a doubt, the most special experience I’ve had behind a camera!

Three days trekking through the jungles of Gunung Leuser with meant wild encounter after wild encounter, but this, coming face to face with my first orangutan, will take some topping!
