Don reached out with a pretty clear idea of the portrait he wanted - something he could print, frame and gift as a Christmas and farewell present before he moves back overseas after living in Australia for over 40 years. It was for his step-daughter and granddaughter, so it had to be special yet casual. On the day, while sharing our life stories, he let me do what I do best - capturing his personality to create something priceless. This ended up being my absolute favourite, taken just down the road from his place in the retirement village.

Don received his retouched images within 3 days and him being 88 years old certainly did not hinder accessing his photo gallery online. "Is Don. Is Good." Is it a recently revived vintage ad or is what Don likes to say? It's both - he is a former head chef after all.

This was the lightbulb moment executed to perfection - finding the best possible spot for the must-have “everyone-in-one-big-group-photo” (yes, that’s actually the official name 😂).

Turned out even better than I imagined and definitely more PINK per square metre than I’ve ever seen before!

The celebration of Terry & Gloria’s nuptials at The Sebel was planned down to the tiniest detail, except for this shot. This was all on me and my signature “Now... everybody, YAY!” prompt - works every time. 😄

50th wedding anniversary lunch I had a pleasure to photograph a few weeks ago at the couple's fav Singaporean restaurant in Willetton!

They brought the whole gang (some in their 90s, most in their 80s) to enjoy the authentic Chinese cuisine meals (so yummy!) and drove away in the party bus! A PARTY BUS! And there was A WILD AFTERPARTY going well into the night in their retirement village! Wish I has their stamina! Such a happy occasion. Congratulations again, Z&K!

Thank you!!

I woke up this morning still trying to take it all in, my heart is full and I am just SO grateful!

Last night I sat with my family and a few close friends, taking a quiet moment to breathe. To everyone who has messaged, called or reached out on social media, thank you. I am working my way through them and will do my best to get back to you soon.

To Cliff, Eli, Evee and Jude, thank you for being my home team. You have seen every side of this journey. I LOVE you! and I would not be here without you!

To every candidate who put their hand up to serve, thank you! Whether or not the outcome was what you hoped for, your courage and care for our city matters. Mandurah is better because of you.

To our community, thank you! Whether you voted for me or not, your voice matters. Your participation shapes the future we build together. This has never been about one person, it is about all of us showing up, speaking up and caring deeply about the future we want to see for Mandurah.

I have so much I want to say, but I will just leave it here for now…

Thank you, Mandurah! Thank you to everyone who has walked this journey with me, to those who have believed in me, and to this incredible city that has shaped who I am. I am so grateful, and I will do everything I can to serve & lead you well.

On this day 12 years ago (18/10/2013), I got paid for my very first event photography gig - and it was a wedding! 12 years ago! And you know what? The bride just wrote: " I still love my wedding pics, so natural...I actually hate getting photos of myself but my wedding ones...so special...thank you for my beautiful photos, you will always be in my life 💖" And that is my WHY, right here! Imagine you would be stuck in a 9 to 5 job you hate!

A couple of weeks ago I photographed the The Nationals WA state conference dinner at Mandurah Country Club

Growing up in Czechoslovakia during the bleak communist years, there was only one party on the ballot (and guess who always won!). I still remember how excited I was to cast my vote in one of the first democratic elections when we could actually choose. That liberating feeling, however, was short-lived when the two main opposition parties joined forces after realising neither could form a majority government. Since then, I’ve kept politics at arm’s length.

So when I got a call from a political party, I was sceptical at first but went with an open mind. Politics aside, this night was all about celebrating and appreciating members. What Australians do so well is come together for something bigger than themselves. Whether it’s a political party, a sporting club or a local community group, there’s something powerful about devoting your time and energy to a cause beyond your own needs.

When the recipient of a Life Member Award for outstanding life service, Mia Davies, received a standing ovation and the room went quiet to hear what SHE had to say - her mum was there to take a video of it! I was captivated!

That’s the spirit I love to capture through my photography.
