Macedon Ranges Photographic Society

Macedon Ranges Photographic Society Club members enjoy a vast range of activities including photographic competitions, outings, tutorials and workshops in a friendly environment.

We meet at Jubilee Hall at foot of Mount Macedon, Victoria on the first and second Monday of most months. MRPS usually meets on the first Tuesday of each month (general meeting night) and the following Monday (technical night). The club rooms open at 7.00pm and the meetings get underway at 7.30pm. Visitors are welcome to come along to experience the meetings and meet our members before joining.

Last night the club had it's end of year meeting. The meeting was held for the first time at Jubilee Hall in Macedon, which will be our meeting base going forward starting in February 2025.

The Hall has a wonderful set up for our club which is slowly growing in attendance, and enabled us to set up multiple areas for photos, BBQ dishes, raffles and seating for the meeting etc.

The night started with the BBQ, followed by the end of year raffles and then results for our final competition for the year. Lastly we had our awards to service, competition aggregate points winners and other general business. It so great to see one member receive an award for 25 years as a member!

It was a lovely night, with a happy, friendly group of members and some of their partners.

We have had a good year at the club for 2024, but we are hoping for an even better one for 2025!

Our latest Walkabout had us remain in the Macedon Ranges with a trip to Mount Monument Winery. The Winery has been making some changes over the last year or so and we decided to check out the Sculptures that have been put in around the property.

With beautiful weather, we had a lovely wander around the Sculpture Park taking photos using our own view and perspective. There were quite a few to choose from and they certainly made you think!

Afterwards, we took advantage of their hospitality and sat down to a lovely Coffee and a chat. The atmosphere inside was lovely and peaceful (well except for our lot :)) and we would like to thank Mount Monument Winery for their wonderful hospitality.

If you haven't been there yet, is it well worth a look, and perhaps a little drink!

As part of our club program, once a month we go on a "Walkabout" to different places in the local area, as well as outer Melbourne and sometime outer Victoria. This is a great way to get out and about with like minded people, get some great shots and learn and upskill your photography.

Last weekend, we stayed local and checked out the Fungi in and around Mt Macedon. While there is plenty out there, it was not as abundant as last year and I think they might be a little later this year. However, it was a lovely day for it and I have attached some of my photos - I hope you like them.

If you are thinking of joining a club, come check us out on Tuesday 4th June at Dromkeen, Riddells Creek for a 7.30pm start!
