Well… this weekend I’m doing something I’ve never done before 😬

For the first time, I’ll be attending the Local Business Awards ceremony as a Finalist.

Am I excited? YES.
Am I absolutely terrified and nervous? ALSO YES. 😂

So naturally, my way of dealing with those nerves is to bury myself in editing and try to smash out a ridiculous amount of galleries so I can actually give myself Saturday OFF.

No editing. No “I’ll just quickly finish this gallery.” No sitting at the computer for 10 hours.

Just a day to calm the nerves, attempt to make myself look presentable and probably have a minor wardrobe meltdown before heading out the door.

Thankfully, I’m sitting with some familiar faces and fellow nominees, including Tristan Christie from Creative Roofing, so at least I won’t be technically be completely on my own!

Running a small business is bloody hard. There are ridiculously long hours, late nights, sacrifices, moments where you question everything… and then moments like this come along and remind you just how far you’ve come.

Win or not, getting dressed up and sitting in that room as a Local Business Awards nominee is something I’m going to be pretty damn proud of. ❤️

Now… back to editing because Saturday Bec deserves a day off — and Wednesday Bec has apparently decided she’s going to make that happen. 😂

Kate & Dylan’s engagement session was an absolute dream — just the two of them being completely themselves, throwing in a few fun games along the way… while I spent most of the session behind the camera laughing right along with them. 😂

Air Frontier is such a beautiful, close-knit workplace — more like a family than simply a team — which makes a tragedy like this incredibly heartbreaking.

Our thoughts are especially with the family, friends and workmates of young Bob, following the tragic loss of their aircraft in the Gulf.

Having had the privilege of working with Air Frontier and capturing their team over the years, our hearts are with every single person feeling this loss.

Sometimes the best photos start with me saying… “Okay, I’ve got a crazy idea — just trust me!” 😂

And honestly, I have the most amazing clients who simply smile, go with the flow and let me create.

When I pictured this maternity session, I wanted something a little different — lush, dramatic, feminine and almost like we had stepped straight into a secret garden.

This is why I love clients who are willing to trust the process. You give me the freedom to run with those slightly wild ideas floating around in my head, and together we create something completely unique.

It’s very much been Capture → Edit → Capture → Edit → rinse and repeat for the past few weeks… and my gosh, I am incredibly grateful. ❤️

I absolutely love being behind the camera, capturing so many memories, moments and stories for so many beautiful families. Every session, every laugh, every little in-between moment is a reminder of why I still love what I do after all these years.

I also want to say a huge thank you for everyone’s patience with me at the moment. We do have a little backlog of galleries making their way out. Between photographing, editing and fitting in SES call-outs, training and volunteering, there haven’t been too many spare hours left in the days.

I’m also human, and apparently my body has finally decided to remind me of that. 😂

After another very busy weekend, last night we headed out to the Pine Forest to capture Chelsea and her beautiful family. There was laughter, there were tears, and yep… there were a few grumpy moments too. Because just like us adults, the kids had reached their limits after a massive weekend. And you know what?

That’s real life.
Those imperfect little moments are part of the memories too.

Today I’m definitely feeling the effects of the past few weeks and am rather under the weather, so even though I’m listening to my body I’m still quietly working my way through those wedding & family galleries.

For now, here’s a little sneak peek from our gorgeous Pine Forest session.
