Elizabeth Schiavello

Elizabeth Schiavello Elizabeth Schiavello is an architectural, interiors and fine art photographer, based in Melbourne, Australia.

Elizabeth Schiavello is an architectural, interiors and fine art photographer, based in Melbourne. After a career in public relations Elizabeth decided to pursue photography. She studied at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology and the Photography Studies College, Melbourne. Elizabeth’s fascination with photography grew from a love of international travel and the desire to capture the places

she encountered. Through her travels and early photographic practice her interest in architecture and the built environment flourished and led her naturally into her commercial work as an architectural and interiors photographer. Elizabeth’s work is characterised by strong, considered compositions highlighting both the wider context and the details of the projects she photographs. Within Elizabeth’s images there is an evident focus on emphasising shape, form, function, light and scale. To complement her architectural and interiors photographic practice Elizabeth has, in parallel, focused on building a fine art practice. A life-long interest in historic and contemporary fine art painters often informs her fine art projects, which move between the built and natural environments and in particular the places where the two meet. In 2017, Elizabeth signed with Studio Gallery, Melbourne. Elizabeth has been a finalist in national architectural photography competitions, had her work featured in major print and online publications, and national television programs. Elizabeth has also exhibited her work in both solo and group exhibition in Melbourne and her work is held in numerous private collections around Australia. You can follow Elizabeth's exploration and recent work in her journal.

I recently had the pleasure of capturing the 2018/2019 MPavilion by Spanish architect Carme Pinós. The pavilion was expertly reconstructed by Erbauer in it’s permanent home at Monash University’s Peninsula campus late in 2024. In time, the pavilion has settled beautifully in the surrounding native plant life and is used regularly for social events, informal gatherings, and academic talks.
