The photos might look effortless, but this is what happens before anyone steps in front of the camera.

Ironing backdrops, arguing over tiny creases, moving things by millimetres. It’s equal parts obsessive and ridiculous, but it’s also why the final image feels polished.

The behind the scenes is rarely glamorous, but it’s one of my favourite parts. A big thanks to bestie JACQUI | COSMETIC TATTOO DIAMOND CREEK for being my assistant.

I had this shot in my head before the wedding.

Then Elysa De Santo told me she loved RIOCAM ® and had just bought one of his prints.

Safe to say we were on the same wavelength.

We took these in front of the church straight after the ceremony, and they’re still some of my favourite wedding portraits I’ve ever taken.

Natalie and Nathan got married at the and it was the right kind of cool.

No big guest list. Just their nearest and dearest. Marble steps. Hard Melbourne light.

They stepped out legally married and straight into their circle. Flowers suspended mid air. Sunglasses on. Jackets undone. The kind of laughter that does not ask for permission.

Registry weddings are elite. Clean. Decisive. Slightly subversive. You arrive in love, you leave married, and the city keeps moving like nothing happened.

But everything did.
