An Aussie writes history for his side in the AFC Champions League Elite 🇻🇳🇦🇺👏

A big shoutout to Australian midfielder Stefan Mauk who helped his Công An Hà Nội FC side record their first-ever Asian Champions League Elite proper win 🔴⚪️

The 31-year-old midfielder played 88 minutes as Công An Hà Nội claimed a 3-2 away win over Kevin Muscat's Shanghai Port side. It's the first time that Công An Hà Nội have won an ACL Elite league phase match and sees the V League 1 outfit ahead of sides such as Buriram United, Pohang Steelers and Ratchaburi on the league phase ladder.

Up next for Mauk and Công An Hà Nội in the ACL Elite is a home match against J League side Kyoto Sanga.

"What Adelaide United lack in the transfer market, they arguably make up for in what they have developed" 🗣

Adelaide United haven't played a 2026/27 A-Leagues Men's match yet but there are plenty of talking points after their Australia Cup and Asian Champions League Elite/Two matches. FPF writer Antonis Pagonis gave an insight into how the Reds could shape in 2026/27: 👇

"Participating in the ACL Two competition will stretch Adelaide United’s squad thinner than usual," he said.

"The squad's composition means that the vast majority of players are either under 23 or over 30, meaning that this will either be a new challenge or a big strain for the majority.

"Keeping a fit squad is crucial for the Reds, who must rely on young, inexperienced players or debutants if multiple absences occur in Airton Andrioli’s starting XI.

"Fireworks have usually accompanied Craig Goodwin’s multiple returns to Adelaide United on the pitch, but that wasn't the case for the club’s favourite son last season (...) Goodwin, often finding himself in a more central role than Reds fans have expected in the past, was left frustrated, with only three goals in his 18 appearances, before succumbing to a season-ending groin injury.

"While similar questions may be asked for similarly aged veterans such as Juan Muniz and Anselmo, Goodwin's influence on the Reds throughout the year and his Johnny Warren Medal-winning ceiling makes his form something to focus on in his second year back."
