Before anything else, K-Lee’s first and most important wish was to be married on her late mother’s birthday. It was one thing heading into their day with that at the back of my mind, but it was another thing entirely to experience the weight of it for myself. The way K-Lee whispered “happy birthday mum” into her dad’s shoulder during their first look. Hearing stories of her mother in speeches and noticing how often she was honoured in a given moment. It all reminded me how often peace and longing live side by side.

During canapés, Matt’s sister made one of the most beautiful speeches I’ve ever heard at a wedding. She spoke about the profoundness of laying down our instinct for self-preservation - the protective weapon we so often carry - in order to serve the other person. Of allowing yourself to be fully known, weaknesses and insecurities included, knowing they could be used against you, but having the confidence and conviction to trust that they never will.

Thank you, Matt and K-Lee, for entrusting me with your most sacred memories. 🤎

Cara and Jean were married in the backyard of Jean’s childhood home - a setting that looks straight out of a children’s storybook. I arrived at the venue thinking to myself, “Surely this cannot be real… I must be dreaming.” Their ceremony was held in what can only be described as a fairy garden, with sweeping views of mountains and vineyards, and towering trees that feel as though they’ve been there since the beginning of time.

Cara was one of the happiest and most radiant brides I have ever photographed. Throughout the day, she was absolutely beaming - no matter what she was doing or who she was talking to. Every bride deserves to feel like that on their wedding day.

It was truly a day I will never forget.

From the moment I first met Nikita and Mikkis, it was unmistakably clear that they were completely besotted with each other.

Their wedding had everything you’d expect from a top tier celebration: good food, good humour, well-dressed guests, tablescapes inspired by their dog’s names (garlic and onion, of course), dinner with a view of the Banhoek mountains and a party that continued well into the night.

Throughout the day they were relaxed, present and always focused on each other. A daydream captured on digital & film.
