AUDITION ANNOUNCEMENT. Date: 01st and 02nd of November 2022

• Bloke and His American Bantu written by Siphiwo Mahala. Directed by Sello Maake
kaNcube.
• Theatre Play.
• Bloke and His American Bantu is a two-man play, reliving the story of two artistic friends,

Bloke Modisane and Langston Hughes, writers and activists from Sophiatown, South Africa, and Harlem in New York (USA) respectively. The story is set in the 1960s, when Modisane was exiled in London, and Hughes through the help of the United Negro College Fund and the American Society of African Culture (AMSAC), organised a lecture series for him in various states across the US. This story explores the friendship that developed between the two despite living in different cities and separated by the Atlantic Ocean.

Dates: 3 weeks rehearsals - 7th Nov 2022 - 26 Nov 2022. Performances 29 Nov 2022 -3 Dec 2022 in Johannesburg and planned full season in Johannesburg and US tour in 2023.

• Actors to prepare a monologue from a any veritable scripted play. Plus one that will be provided for each character. (Face to face audition, no self-tape. Director wants to engage with Actors.)

• Interested Actors to send Bios.
Talent has to be from around Johannesburg, Tshwane, Ekurhuleni
