Kolmanskop is a photographers playground with doorways and passages out of an authors imagination waiting to be photographed. Regardless of the light there’s always something interesting to find. We’re looking forward to being back in this amazing location this November for our Composing The Dunes photographic workshop.

The end to an absolutely fantastic workshop on Botswana‘s iconic Lekhubu Island. Despite the cold front in South Africa extending into Botswanan causing strong winds and overcast skies for much of the time, there was still ample opportunities for landscape photography and more importantly Astro photography during our three nights spent on the island. As the Baobabs, the arboreal giants, were the stars of the show!

There are two spots still available on this year’s astrophotography workshop at Kubu Island. This is a phenomenal location to photograph these arboreal giants against a panoply of stars spinning overhead in the night sky. We purposely keep our groups small so that you get ample opportunity to both learn how, and to create awesome imagery of the night sky.

Of course there’s more to Kubu than just the stars though. A chance to gaze across the vastness of Soa Pan, relax and banter by the fire with likeminded photographers and catch the morning sun against a backdrop of Africa’s most iconic trees.

From Chris Allan Photo and Video and Emil von Maltitz - A huge shout out to the the awesome people who joined us on this year’s epic ‘Exploring the Island Continent’ photographic workshop to . Massive thanks to Radonirina Franck Manantsoa and for their tireless effort in getting us to the right locations at the right time. Madagascar has some of the most grueling roads to find and these guys are super-human at driving over these exhausting tracks and routes.

A huge part of a successful photo workshop is the group itself! Humour, patience and a love of light on the landscape lend toward making the journey a memorable adventure and experience. Thanks guys! It was a privilege exploring the island with you! I look forward to seeing some awesome images from an incredible trip.

Back from our ‘Exploring the Island Continent’ workshop and now trawling through hundreds of images from the fantastic journey we made through the south of Madagascar. What a trip!

There are two spots left for next year’s workshop if the thought of an adventure through the red island piques your photographic curiosity.
