Some places feel busier than ever, while others still feel profoundly quiet. As we watch the pressures of society begin to press heavier on nature, and campsites becoming harder to book last minute- John Muir’s words seem more relevant than ever… “Thousands of tired, nerve-shaken, over-civilized people are beginning to find out that going to the mountains is going home; that wildness is a necessity”.
I try to remind myself of this when I see places overrun. Immediately it sucks. In contrary, it’s families and friends rediscovering the importance of the outdoors. I remain torn in spirit, but hopeful that people learn fast to care for our world. To protect it entirely and safeguard the homes of those that can’t speak our languages. The trees, the plans, the animals and everything we consume with our human tendencies.
Find beauty. And protect her.
