This surprise proposal was SO much fun!
Chantelle was taken out on a “girls day” with a friend, and they stopped at the lookout point for a few photos of the view. Meanwhile, I was behind a bush, and Jaco was hiding behind a rock. Chantelle’s shock at seeing Jaco (and later me, then all her friends popping out from behind rocks and bushes) was priceless.
Jaco really organized this so beautiful - choosing a spot that was meaningful to Chantelle and seamlessly integrating it into a day that was already planned.

A beautiful day last year was spent photographing a styled shoot at Le Champagne in Paarl, with the most stunning vendors! It was so fun to photograph a “wedding” without any time pressure. I kept having to remind myself to take it slow, take it easy and enjoy the process!
It was a great bit of free experimenting, trying out some new things and just PLAYING with photos!

I have two rules when it comes to photos - no gaps between partners and physically connecting on some level. This visually immediately creates a connection and an intimacy without being intimate on camera. A touch of a hand, holding onto each other, shoulders touching, foreheads resting against one another - all little ways to create a connection in an instant.

Let me be your secret keeper - my inbox is open for your surprise proposal plans! I can hide in a bush, behind a rock, under a tree or be part of a very elaborate story where I just happen to be there to take some photos! 📸
What made this surprise proposal even more special was that I photographed Tamlyn years ago, when she was a bridesmaid at her sisters wedding.
The excitement, happy smiles and CONGRATULATIONS shouts from passers-by was really the cherry on top of this lovely shoot.
