You might look at this photograph and see a sweet hug shared between two loved ones.

But I see a woman who has been supported through the highs and lows of her life by another woman in her life.

This image was captured during Danielle’s 21st birthday celebration after her godmother had just given a heartfelt speech expressing her love for Dani.

That’s what I love about photographing people.

The photograph is only one frame.

The story is everything that happened around it.

And sometimes the photographs that weren’t planned end up becoming the ones you keep forever.

If you’ve ever thought, “I’d love family photos, but my kids will NEVER cooperate…” this one’s for you.

Your children don’t need to sit still for an hour, and we don’t want to spend the whole session trying to make them. Our approach is about connection, movement, and letting your family be themselves, which might mean running, cuddling, taking a snack break, or letting your toddler investigate something incredibly important in a patch of grass. And yes, sometimes everyone looks at the camera too.

All of it counts. You don’t have to create the perfect family for the photos. Just bring your loved ones and we’ll take it from there. 🤍

Before the baby arrived, there was this.

There were two people learning to imagine their lives in a completely new way. There was a home slowly changing, a body changing, and a little person who was already becoming part of their story before they had even met.

Maternity photography isn’t only about documenting your bump. It’s about remembering who you were in the season before everything changed.

It’s about remembering what it felt like to be the two of you, waiting to meet the person who would change your lives forever.

Because one day, you’ll look back at these photographs and realise that this was the beginning of something you couldn’t quite imagine yet.

And that’s the part of maternity photography I love most.

Your maternity session doesn’t need to feel like a production.

You don’t need 15 props, a Pinterest board and a suitcase full of outfits.

Bring a few things that make you feel comfortable, a couple of outfits you love, something meaningful if you’d like to include it, and of course, your people.

We’ll take care of the rest.

And yes, you can absolutely bring snacks.

Meet the Shaws ❤️

After 13 years of loving each other, they’re ready to enter their new chapter as husband and wife.

Robyn and Keegan got married this weekend at Beuld the venue in Robertson, and there was something so beautiful about watching two people who have already shared so much life together step into this new chapter.

Nothing about their love felt new. It felt deeply known. Like two people who have grown alongside each other and somehow still look at one another as if they’re exactly where they’re meant to be.

And we got to be there to capture it.

I’ve never been particularly interested in photographs where everyone simply looks at the camera.

Don’t get me wrong, there’s a place for those photographs too.

But give me a moment like this.

Four loved ones laughing, someone looking at someone else and most importantly, nobody quite aware of the camera.

That’s the photograph I want.

Because when I look at an image years from now, I don’t want to only remember what everyone looked like.

I want to remember what it felt like to be together.

I want to capture the relationship shared, and the little moments between the “official” photographs.

That’s why I photograph people the way I do.

I’m not trying to manufacture a perfect moment.

I’m observing for the real one.

A family full of love 🤍

The Markham’s moved from Johannesburg to Cape Town, and like so many families, their story has been shifting along the way. They’re experiencing new surroundings, new routines and a new chapter. With children growing through different stages of life, finding time to all be together is something worth holding onto.

They wanted to document this season, not just with everyone looking at the camera, but with photographs that capture how they actually are together and show their personalities, the laughter, and the little moments of connection that take a while to unfold. All of it in a place they now love calling home.

Because family photographs don’t need to show a perfect family. They just need to show the people you love, the season you’re in, and the little things you might otherwise forget.
