From the Saddle: Cars, Bacon & Horsepower

This morning’s installment of From the Saddle took an unexpected turn somewhere between pigs and horsepower.

First stop: a not-so-secret farm near Lahaska, where the locals were busy rooting around, apparently unconcerned with the day’s agenda. 🐖

Then it was on to New Hope for a little “Cars & Bacon”—a gathering of beautifully unapologetic machines that look less like traditional show cars and more like rolling pieces of automotive history. Hot rods, customs, racers, and street machines paying homage to an era when speed, style, and a little mechanical attitude mattered more than showroom perfection.

No trophies. No velvet ropes. Just good cars, good people, and enough horsepower to make the bicycle feel slightly inadequate.

Not a bad morning from the saddle. 🚲🐷🏁

A Light for Generations

The Delaware River glows pink in remembrance of Dolly Parton—a legendary artist whose greatest legacy may reach far beyond music and film. Through her Imagination Library, she helped put millions of books into the hands of children, opening doors to literacy, learning, and possibility.

Tonight, the bridges carry a little of that light across the river—honoring a remarkable woman whose generosity, compassion, and belief in children will continue to shine for generations.

It’s always an honor to see your photographs become part of the story—and this one is especially meaningful.

Several of my photographs are featured in the August 2026 issue of Upper Makefield Magazine, helping showcase the incredible events taking place at Washington Crossing Historic Park during this milestone 250th anniversary year.

From Independence Day celebrations and living history to the Revolutionary Run and the many moments that bring our community together, I’m grateful to be behind the camera documenting these memories.

After nearly four years of photo documenting Washington Crossing Historic Park, seeing my work featured in support of the Park and its 250th celebrations is truly rewarding.

History is being made, memories are being created, and I’m honored to help preserve them one photograph at a time. 🇺🇸📷

Behind the Lens — Helping Tell Washington’s Story

There’s something pretty special about seeing one of your photographs at the top of an article about a place you’ve spent nearly four years documenting.

I’ve had the privilege of photo documenting Washington Crossing Historic Park through countless living history events, reenactments, programs, and moments that bring our Revolutionary story to life. Now, seeing one of my signature images featured as part of the story about the Park’s exciting new Visitor Center film makes it even more meaningful.

This photograph was captured during the filming of that new interpretive experience—another way of helping preserve and share the story of Washington’s Crossing with generations to come.

As we head toward the 250th Anniversary of Washington’s Crossing, it’s an honor to be behind the camera, documenting history as it happens… and occasionally finding one of my images helping tell that story beyond the Park itself.

Proud to be a small part of something much bigger. 🇺🇸📸

“Of all the gin joints in all the world…” — somehow, we ended up in Casablanca.

Elyse and I decided that if we were going to step into one of cinema’s most unforgettable worlds, we might as well do it properly: a smoky room, a little mystery, impeccable evening wear, and just enough romantic intrigue to make the past feel dangerously present.

There are some films you watch. And then there are films you enter.

For one night, we found ourselves somewhere between Rick’s Café Américain and a scene that might have been left on the cutting-room floor.

“Here’s looking at you, kid.”

And as for the rest?

“We’ll always have Paris.”

Apparently, I’ve been photographing history for a little longer than I thought! 📸🇺🇸

This AI creation imagines me stepping back into the Revolutionary era—camera in hand and ready to document the action. And with December just around the corner, it seems only fitting to dust off the old gear and get ready for another incredible weekend of living history!

The action unfolds over three days and three historic events:
🎄 December 25 — Christmas Crossing at Washington Crossing Historic Park
⚔️ December 26 — Battle of Trenton
⚔️ December 27 — Battle of Princeton

As the photographer for Washington Crossing Historic Park and a volunteer photographer at Princeton Battlefield, I’ll be trading this imaginary brass camera for my modern gear and heading out to document the sights, sounds, people, and action that bring these pivotal moments of history back to life.

Different century. Same mission: Follow the action and preserve the history. 📸🇺🇸

See you on the battlefield… just don’t ask me to develop the film by candlelight. 😉

RUSH. LIVE. IN PHILLY. 🤘⚡

Friday night, August 21, 2026.

After 11 years, RUSH finally came roaring back to Philadelphia—and holy hell… they did NOT come back quietly.

Anika Nilles behind the kit.
Three hours of RUSH at full throttle.

From the opening notes of “Xanadu” to “The Spirit of Radio,” “Freewill,” “Subdivisions,” “Limelight,” and an absolutely mind-blowing, complete “2112”…

This wasn’t a nostalgia show.

This was RUSH reminding everyone exactly why RUSH is RUSH.

The lights. The sound. The musicianship. The giant screens. The crowd losing its collective mind.

And somewhere in the middle of it all, you could feel the unmistakable presence of Neil Peart—not there physically, but woven into every beat, every memory, every standing ovation. ❤️

Geddy and Alex may have a few more miles on the odometer these days…

With all the noise, headlines, and political drama in the world today, we decided it was time for a little escape.

So we fired up the AI Time Machine, grabbed our hats, and took a trip back to the 1939 New York World’s Fair—a time when the future still felt exciting, the world seemed a little more curious, and a day at the fair was all about discovering what might be possible.

No political debates. No breaking news. No notifications.

Just two time travelers, a beautiful day, and a front-row seat to the World of Tomorrow.

Where Automotive History Meets American History

At Washington Crossing Historic Park, history takes many forms—and during the annual Rebels v. Redcoats Car Show, some of it comes with polished chrome, rumbling engines, and plenty of personality.

It was a privilege to photograph this remarkable gathering of automotive history against the backdrop of one of America’s most historic landscapes. Having my images showcased in the prestigious VMFC Club Newsletter makes the experience even more rewarding.

A little American history. A lot of automotive passion. And, from behind the camera, a wonderful opportunity to bring the two together.
