Got to see this today and learn a little about it..
Motif No. 1 is the iconic little red fishing shack on Bradley Wharf in Rockport. It’s considered one of the most photographed and painted buildings in America and is the symbol of Rockport.
The building became famous because artists in Rockport’s thriving art colony repeatedly painted it. Painter Lester Hornby is credited with calling it “Motif No. 1” after noticing how often his students chose it as their subject. The name stuck.
