/ : Several No Kings gatherings were held throughout the state yesterday [10/17/2026], with a focus this time on encouraging citizens to vote early. People in Wilton [1-2] and Stamford [3] waved signs along the busiest roads in the morning, getting cars to honk while passing by. Later on a rally in Greenwich [4-9] featured speeches by such politicians as Selectwoman Rachel Khanna [6] and U.S. Representative Jim Himes [7-8].

/ : The only 'forum' for state senator from 's 25th district took place Thursday evening [10/15/2026] in the auditorium at NORWALK PUBLIC LIBRARY. Current Senate Majority Leader Bob Duff, (D) faced off against biologist and immunologist Justin Perry (R) at the event, sponsored by the League of Women Voters and the Norwalk Current. Academy of Information Technology & Engineering debate coach Claude Morest asked the questions submitted by audience members - a few of whom showed poor decorum at times - and among the topics leading to the most discussion were traffic, electricity bills, and affordable housing. If Mr. Duff is re-elected, he will very likely be chosen as the next Senate President Pro Tempore.

/ : For her show at The Kate in Old Saybrook on 10/11/2026, singer-songwriter Beth Nielsen Chapman was part of a trio that included her nephew. Since she didn't have a new album to promote just yet, her set list was instead made up of a wide variety of selections from throughout her career - including hits she wrote for others, like 's "This Kiss" and Willie Nelson's "Nothing I Can Do About It Now" - much to the delight of her fans that evening.

: The Yonder Mountain String Band returned to Tarrytown Music Hall on 10/9/2026, receiving loud cheers throughout their set for their fast and intricate picking skills, as well as their solid vocals. The quartet has been on the road to promote the sixteenth album of its nearly three-decade-long career, "Good As True", which came out in March.

/ : Blues singer Bobby Rush appeared at the NICE Festival in 's on 10/3/2026 - but it was not a good fit. While his work on guitar, harmonica, and vocals were all good - especially for a 92-year-old - much of his routine was simply too crude for a crowd filled with families. Sure, parents should expect a blues act to have some adult-oriented material, but the event is sold as family-friendly. He told the same joke about his connection to rap music twice - and when he spoke directly to children on the topic, he sounded rather out of touch, as hip-hop no longer holds the same appeal to youth that it once did. He even made suggestive moves around some female audience members and told a man to sit down - not exactly a 'nice' thing to do. Despite some worthwhile musicianship, Bobby's 45-minute performance that day was probably our least favorite that we've covered this year. (His banjo player [5] did a nice job in his supporting role.)

(Fairly) : The final day of the 15th JazzFest in White Plains took place at Eastview Middle School on 9/27/2026, moved indoors due to rain. Trumpeter Papo Vazquez and his Mighty Pirates Troubadours [1-3] got an enthusiastic response for their Latin jazz numbers, while saxophonist Sarah Hanahan [4-10] delivered an especially impressive performance, with a backing band that included CT's own Matt Dwonszyk on bass. The evening finished with Nat Adderley, Jr. and his trio [11-17] performing tracks from his first solo CD, 2025's "Took So Long" and finishing with a cover of Luther Vandross' "Never Too Much" - which Nat had originally arranged, leading to his long tenure as Luther's musical director.

(Fairly) / : Mohegan Sun presented country singer Mark Wills at the Wolf Den on 9/19/2026 (or September 19-something). His set list included his crossover successes ("Back At One", "Almost Doesn't Count", "I Do (Cherish You)") and his more traditional country hits ("Wish You Were Here", "Places I've Never Been"). One of his daughters ran the merchandise booth, at one point even providing a longtime fan with a jersey - and then later taking the stage herself to perform a Jo Dee Messina cover! Mark also told the audience how "Don't Laugh At Me", with its message of showing respect for everyone, remains his favorite song to perform.

(Fairly) / : Victor Wooten and his brothers returned to Connecticut for a night of outstanding showmanship at Infinity Music Hall in Hartford on 9/16/2026. The set mixed in everything from jazz to soul to rock - and while there were plenty of familiar covers along the way, some audience members probably missed the Bobby Womack medley that took place at one point. Besides Victor, the group also featured Roy "Futureman" Wooten (Victor's bandmate in Béla Fleck's Flecktones) on his signature SynthAxeDrumitar, as well as Regi on guitar and Joseph (a longtime member of the Steve Miller Band) on keyboards. Each of the four got multiple chances to shine, with Regi sometimes playing so fast that his hand looked like a blur, and later swinging his guitar around his neck in sync with Victor's bass. This was one of the best shows we've covered this year - and the quartet doesn't plan to slow down, either, as a new album is in the works for 2027.

(Fairly) / : The Norwalk Democratic Party held a "Campaign Kickoff Potluck" dinner at Mill Hill Historic Park on 9/14/2026, in advance of several major races at the state level. Among those speaking to the crowd were State Treasurer Erick Russell; State Attorney General William Tong [2]; and State Senator Bob Duff, Senate Majority Leader. Attendees also got the opportunity to speak with other state representatives during the two-hour event.

(Fairly) / : The first annual Jazz On The Green took place on the New Haven Green on 9/12/2026, with impressive performances all around. After a great set from the Dwayne Keith Project [3-10], the crowd heard from longtime New Haven resident Wayne Escoffery [11-19], who's worked with such greats as Ron Carter and Herbie Hancock. Mr. Escoffrey, who's been a lecturer at the Yale School of Music for the past decade, said from the stage that his performance that day was actually his first time playing a show on the green. Earlier in the afternoon saxophonist Kenneth Jefferson [1-2] got well-earned cheers for finishing a song he'd started despite the entire sound system briefly going out.
