Last month's beach mini sessions gave me a touch of summer and I was totally here for it! A beautiful evening on the beach ending with pink skies.

It was so great to see some of my client's I have been shooting for a long time & meeting some new ones.

Always so thankful for this job of mine and I am SO ready for beach session season!

This little business of mine turns 13 today!
While I have been shooting and portfolio building for many years before that, 13 years ago I became official.

I am so thankful for the 100s of families I have photographed all over the country and who have trusted me in their moments and memories.

Nicella Photography fun fact: at one time I was Jessica Lynn Photography, and I even had a cute (cheesy) logo made. When I went to get my website the domain Jessica Lynn Photography was already taken, that’s when I knew it had to be different. Over a few drinks on a random St Patrick’s Day, my sister told me I need to make the name something that means something to me. Immediately I knew I needed to incorporate my children’s names in the name…. and hence Nicella Photography was born (Nick-Ella …. sorry Harps you came much much later haha)

The return of the USS Ford this week has been a special time for so many military families in Hampton Roads. It has been the longest aircraft carrier deployment since Vietnam. Almost 11 months.

I was so excited to capture this sweet moment for this family. Baby girl was born in February and while her daddy got to come home very briefly for her birth, he had to leave at just 2 weeks old to go back. And as we all know, the first couple months with a newborn is hard and the babies change so much, he was also gone pretty much the entire pregnancy.

Seeing them reunite as a family of three really pulled my heart strings and I may have had a thing or five in my eye at all times. But the sweetest moment!

Welcome home to the Bears, VAW-124 Squadron! Thank you for your service and all you have done. We are so happy to have you back!

When Ben contacted me to shoot his surprise proposal to his girlfriend, I was thrilled! These kind of sessions, the ones where you capture the true moments and organic relationships of people are what my job is based on.

It was the most perfect proposal, on her birthday, where it took her on a treasure hunt all over Virginia Beach...ending with a proposal, followed by a surprise engagement party at her parent's house.

This was so special and thoughtful and was such a fun moment to shoot!

She said... YES!!

Class of 2026

I have been photographing Dominic and his family for YEARS! So to see him as an adult now and off to college is wild!

We had a simple session out in the Narrows and it was a perfect night to head out that way with lots of lovely light and warm temps.

This is a big milestone and thankful I was able to capture it!

I did Carlee's senior pictures back in the fall but a college announcement and cap & gown session was in order because 'tis the season!

We took it to the heart of Virginia Beach and spent some time around town center!

Less than 2 months until she's a college grad and she's a HOKIE!!!
