My oldest starts kindergarten this month.

I’ve been trying to put words to it for a while now and honestly I’m still not totally there.

It’s not sad exactly. It’s more like... that feeling when a chapter closes and you’re happy about what comes next but you’re also standing there holding the last page for a little longer than you probably need to.

This season is a little different for me personally because of it. My weekend availability is more limited than it’s been in years - on purpose, because I want to be present for this time with my family.

That means fewer spots. And the ones I do have will fill up faster than usual.

I have a theory.

Every single person who has ever said “I have plenty of time” has, at some point, looked up and thought “where did the time go.”

I hear it from moms all the time - “we’ll do photos next year, things are just so busy right now.” And I get it. But next year has a way of turning into five years, and suddenly you’re wishing you had just one photo of you and your little one from right now.

If you’ve been putting it off, this is your sign not to wait.

This Newfields photo session started as a surprise proposal. I even got to hide in the bushes for it! 🤍

We planned the whole thing weeks in advance: the timing, the path, where I’d stay hidden so I wouldn’t miss the moment. She had zero idea. Just shock, happy tears, and a whole lot of “wait, is this real?”

Then we walked straight into an engagement session. The ring still feeling brand new.
