Last Sunday night, I made the trip down to Madison County in hopes of capturing my first Milky Way photograph of 2026. Steve Daggs and I set up in a muddy, dew-soaked cornfield, patiently waiting for our galaxy to rise above an old barn.
Just as the Milky Way came into view, clouds began rolling in, quickly swallowing the stars. Fortunately, we each managed to fire off a couple dozen frames before the sky completely closed in. This image is a single exposure captured at 20mm, f/2.8, with an 8-second exposure at ISO 3200.
