Here is one of my favorite images from the mountains of Glacier Park this summer. I’m glad that the wildfire smoke has subsided and we have entered into the early fall portion of our year, but that dreadful smoke did create some wonderful atmosphere at sunrise. Have a great long weekend for all you who labor and toil.

August is a hard month for many elements of life, and landscape photography is no different. Here is an image from the last video where I attempt to make good images with the smoky conditions that have plagued us for the last month. The osprey in the nest makes a nice edition to the scene for a pleasant sunrise and breaks up the mountain scene behind. Very glad September is here and clear air and rain followed with! I look forward to fall photography in the coming months.

This was an incredible waterfall to find, probably over 20 feet worth of cascades in total here. Easily one of my favorite images from this week's YouTube episode. Some scenes just line up nicely, the two logs and triangular stone in the foreground I feel are complimentary. Sometimes it's worth chasing a point you find on a map and checking it out. You never know what you might be rewarded with.

New YouTube episode is live! This was surely one of my favorite that I have filmed so far and not just because of the images. It was shot right in time before the smoke came in and pummeled us that afternoon and has been ever since. Last great light for some time now. In addition to that, I found a new waterfall that was a very pleasant surprise. I hope you all enjoy this weeks video. I look forward to making the next in what I hope to be better air.

Here is an image from just before all the smoke came in and made being outside into something unpleasant. I have always enjoyed Indian Paintbrush but love it a little less than before after learning it's a parasite. Even so, this image is one of my favorites from my last landscape photography YouTube episode. I hope for all our sakes the air quality improves soon and you can see detail more than a few hundred yards away.

New YouTube episode is live! This week’s video tackles a classic summer challenge in the west - hazy skies. Great images are always there you just have to be able to find different creative spaces to see them. Hope you enjoy this week’s video!

I finally managed to swing into Glacier National park on the Going to the Sun Road's opening day when the flowers were out AND the light was great. Here is one of my favorite images from the outing. If that interests you, I have a fresh YouTube video out capturing this shoot. This one was a two-shot focus stack that came together quite well. The elderberry flowers made for an excellent foreground and embodies the kind of vegetation I think of for Northwest Montana.
