It was so challenging to narrow down favorites of Brittany's maternity session. We collaborated well from the start and chatted quite a bit about her vision and how she wanted to focus on her girls (and her own mama!) and have a dreamy, natural, whimsical feel, as well as be fun for the girls. It was the perfect day with the clouds showing off and these girls made it full of laughter and so much joy. ❤

I get asked a lot why I shoot my sessions with two cameras, and I always explain that different lenses do different things. Here's a good example--one is a portrait lens that creates a bokeh effect, blurring out the background and the other is a wider angle lens that captures more of the landscape behind and to the sides of the subject. I love both for different reasons and it just depends on the context, the composition and the backdrop to decide which one to go with. (And like with this one, sometimes I like and go with both.)

There's a lot of chatter behind the scenes about the shift in the photography industry. Lots of change--AI, financial priorities shifting (out of necessity), a saturated market where those without licenses, insurance etc. can charge significantly less, etc. It's a lot.

So many of us love what we do so much and I know that I plan to continue telling stories and documenting families and milestones as long as I can. This post is just sharing gratitude for all of you. For my family who encouraged me to take this leap over a decade ago. For my friends who loudly shared my name with other friends (or online) to help spread the word. To my clients who trust me to help them preserve a moment, an age, a celebration--and preserve it as art, forever.

Thank you for the laughter, the joy, the authenticity of your story. Let's make some more moments together. I look forward to seeing so many of you this fall. ❤
