The heart of a family isn’t found in the perfectly posed moments.

It’s in the way they lean into one another. The laughter between siblings. The quiet look exchanged between two people who have built a life together.

It’s in the love that grows and changes with every passing season.

Years from now, these photographs will tell a story of what life looked like right here, right now. Who they were. How they loved. What being together felt like.

And that is why I believe family photographs are so much more than something beautiful to hang on a wall.

They’re a piece of your family’s legacy.

I’m not joking at all when I say I’m forever chasing sunsets. On this day… in Hilton Head, SC we were leaving the pool to go figure out dinner. And by the time I got upstairs… and looked out our balcony window I said “oh no… this light is gorgeous…” and Kristianna rolled her eyes and said “come on guys Mommy wants to do photos now.” And in an instant we pivoted. We threw on outfits, combed hair into some beach wave clips and they understood the assignment - RUN TO THE ELEVATOR- and out the door back past the pool where people probably thought we were crazy because only moments before we were floating with not a care in the world. Sometimes there is a plan for your photo shoot… and sometimes the sky says “Hold my beer.” This was one of those moments. And I’m so glad my kids were trained for it. 🤣🤣🤣

Why weddings?
I've asked myself that before.

I love beautiful photographs.
But I love what they become even more.

Proof that these people were here.
That they loved you.
That they celebrated with you.
That this is where another chapter of your family's story began.

That's my why.
And it's the reason I'll probably always tear up behind my camera at weddings.

You may love this photograph today.
But I don't think you'll fully understand its value yet.
Twenty years from now, you'll notice different things.

The way his hands looked.

The dress your mom wore.
The smile you inherited.
The way someone looked at you when you weren't paying attention.
How young everyone was.
How it felt when all of these people were together in one place.
Time has a strange way of changing photographs.
The image stays exactly the same.

We don't.

And that's when a photograph stops being simply beautiful and becomes something priceless. This is why I photograph the people around you just as intentionally as I photograph you. Because I don't only want to give you photographs you'll love when your gallery arrives.

I want to give you photographs that become more valuable with every year that passes.

Florida light has a personality of its own.

It's one of the reasons I love photographing weddings here.

It can be bright and tropical at two o'clock, soft and golden just before sunset, and then turn the sky into something completely different only minutes later with a fading light that I NEVER had in New England.

But beautiful Florida light isn't just about finding “golden hour.”

It's knowing what to do with the light you have all day long. Where to place you when the afternoon sun is strong. When open shade will give us softer skin tones. How to work with reflective water. When to sneak outside during dinner because the sky suddenly decided to show off. And when it's worth shifting the timeline by ten minutes because I can see something beautiful developing outside.

You shouldn't have to understand any of that on your wedding day.

That's my job.

Your job is to be there.

One of the most valuable things I can add to your wedding timeline isn't another photograph.

It's breathing room.

A wedding day scheduled down to the minute may look efficient on paper, but real wedding days are full of humans.

A button takes longer than expected. Or that veil just wont stay in.

Someone can't find Dad. Or you have to hide the bride from all the guests coming in early.

Flowers arrive five minutes late. Or Grandma wants to hug you one more time and tell you how proud of you she is.

You need a minute. Take those minutes.

Because sometimes you're simply having such a beautiful moment with the people you love that I don't want someone immediately saying, “Okay! We have to go.”

That's why I intentionally advocate for padding in a wedding photography timeline.

Not because I want to photograph you longer. Because space gives us options.

It gives us time for the unexpected. It allows portraits to feel relaxed instead of rushed. It gives your planner and vendor team room to solve little things without those little things becoming big things.

And perhaps most importantly... it gives you permission to actually experience your wedding.

The best timelines don't just tell us where we're supposed to be.

They leave room for life to happen in between.

The core of a home isn’t the walls. It’s this.
The laughter that fills the room.
The love that carries you through the hard seasons.
The hands you keep reaching for.
The people who choose, again and again, to do life together.
Because family legacy isn’t only found in the big milestones.
It’s built quietly... in inside jokes and belly laughs. In showing up. In ordinary afternoons. In the way your children know what it feels like to be loved because they watched you love one another first.

Take them back to the beginning...
Years from now, I want these photographs to remind them of more than what their family looked like. I want them to remember what it felt like to belong to it.
Love.
Laughter.
Together.
That’s the heart of a home.

And that’s a legacy worth preserving.

I don’t know about you… but I’m trying to hold onto these moments. 🤍

The tiny fingers.
The curled-up toes.
The way they somehow fit perfectly into the smallest little spaces.

Because one day, they won’t.

One day those hands will be bigger. Those little legs will stretch long. And somehow, impossibly, you’ll have a hard time remembering just how tiny they once were.

That’s why we photograph this.

Not because everything needs to be perfectly posed or perfectly styled but because this version of them only exists for such a short while.

Photographs give us somewhere to keep it.

The details.
The softness.
The beginning.

Holding onto these moments, long after they’ve grown out of them. 🤍

This is family legacy… the stories worth keeping.
