Some love stories cross more than a state line. Some cross an ocean.💞

Jessie and Dominick met while studying at Duke. Jessie, a vibrant, PhD student fell hard for Dominick's German charm as he studied abroad. Somewhere along the way, a school friendship became something much bigger. 💍 Their relationship has navigated the challenges of building a life together across two cultures, including the complicated road of citizenship.🍃

So when their wedding day arrived at Lavender Oaks Farm, it felt like a celebration of all of it.🌸 There was summer sunshine 🌞, so much laughter, a packed dance floor, and a party that somehow got more energetic as the night went on.

But what I loved most was how completely theirs it felt. Two people from different places, two cultures, and one life they built together. 🍃The kind of wedding day that reminds me why I love photographing people and the stories that make them who they are. 🤍

The best engagement sessions rarely begin with a perfect pose. They begin with comfort. 🍃From the moment Caroline and Andrew stepped in front of the camera, what mattered was simply enjoying being together. Every inside joke led to another laugh, every laugh led to giggles, and every giggle led to clear love for each other in their eyes. 💍

That's what I hope every engagement session feels like. Not stiff or overly posed. Just two people slowing down for a moment together, creating memories that feel as genuine as the relationship they're celebrating. 🌷

One of my favorite moments on a wedding day isn't planned around a timeline. It's the few quiet minutes we step away together just before sunset🌞. After a day filled with hugs, happy tears, conversations, and celebration, everything begins to slow down🍃. The nerves have settled, the excitement has turned into gratitude, and for the first time all day, it's space just for the two of you.🥰

✨Space to breathe.
✨Space to soak it all in.
✨Space to remember what the day was always about in the first place.

Space for yourselves is really what sunset portraits is all about. Not about checking off a box, adhering to a timeline, or adding something else in the day. But space to be together. And present in the moment.💍

✨Years from now, I hope you look back at your sunset portraits and remember more than how amazing it felt to share a moment just for yourself.
