This pregnancy was very unexpected but has been everything my heart needed in so many ways.

Another summer pregnancy wasn't exactly in MY plan but God knew that sharing a birthday month (maybe even the same day🤞) would be the sweetest thing ever!

Seeing the excitement on my boys' faces and hearing them say baby's name is magic.

Preparing for this baby even though we don't exactly have the space in our home has required a healthy dose of surrender and trust.

It's felt very obvious this time around that 4 is apparently the number that tips you over the edge into "you know how that happens, right?" and "ohhhh you've got your hands full 😳" comment territory. But we know this baby was meant for our family and we are so so excited and thankful!

The sweetest shower for baby happened today! So thankful for family to celebrate with us and my momma who flew in to surprise me (and scare the poo out of me by hiding in the shower 🤪 ). I feel so loved and can't believe we're so close to meeting this little nugget ❤️

My fourth time carrying life. It's flying by and simultaneously dragging on as I try to imagine what this little one might be like.

I find myself tracing the stretch marks with my fingers and wondering if I'll ever to truly love them. I notice my hips and thighs growing along with baby and wonder if my pants size will forever be changed. I look at a photo like this and see all the "flaws."

When we were planning this shoot, I told that we couldn't do any photos of me sitting because I didn't like how my belly looked. But then she sent these over and told me how beautiful I was and at the end of the day, I really do love and appreciate all that this body has done and is doing.

I guess all I'm saying is, this is me carrying my fourth baby and soaking it all in because no matter what, it really is ✨MAGIC✨

Continuing the conversation this week: DID YOU KNOW that doulas and birth photographers can help support you through a cesarean? Whether it's planned or unplanned, having a familiar, supportive face in the OR can be a game changer for the way you view your brith experience.

These images are from the ONE cesarean I've been allowed to photograph (Raise your hand if you think that should change 🙋‍♀️). While I don't often get the opportunity (and Covid has made that even more rare), capturing the beauty of cesarean birth is one of my favorite things! Cesarean mommas are some of the strongest women I know! 💪

As I mentioned in yesterday's post, I want to take this week to talk about different types of birth and the fact that a good doula/birth photographer wants to support you through ANY kind of birth.⁠

The beautiful momma above had just received her IV meds followed by an epidural before this photo was snapped. I still share images from this gorgeous birth 4.5 years later! She worked so hard to meet her daughter and it was an honor to be part of her support team.⁠
