Planning a wedding is hard enough, but I think we're putting way too much pressure on couples to design the Pinterest/Instagram/socially perfect wedding. You can absolutely prioritize your photos and have an AMAZING gallery. But your wedding should be yours, not someone else's. Focus on your life, your love, your personalities, and the photos will reflect that (I promise)!

Yes, we love photographing beautiful details and curated decor, but don't do it for the photos. Do it because it means something to you. If it doesn't add value to your day, skip it!

Every wedding is so unique and that's the point. Don't obsess over someone else's day and forget to enjoy your own.

Have a wedding that's yours. Whatever that means. As long as you're having fun and staying present, the photos will naturally follow your vibe. Oh, and don't worry, I'll be sure they're still Pinterest worthy 😉

"What if we just eloped in Colorado?"

Courtney and Anthony were high school sweethearts with big lives and big dreams. A wedding never seemed to fit in the plans! So, many years and two kids later, they bought some rings and a dress and set out on a family vacation in Colorado to say their vows and officially tie the knot.

Your elopement doesn't need to look like anyone else's. Bring your kids, self solemnize, run away to the mountains, anything you want! Just be sure you invite me along to document the memories 😉

One of my goals this year was to not take Instagram so seriously. I'm a chronic over-thinker and I tend to have analysis paralysis when it comes to sharing (which is why you don't see a ton of posts on my pages).

While I like to have a perfectly curated feed of my best work, it's also supposed to be fun, right?

So anyway, here's a very imperfect collection of cell phone snapshots of what I've been up to lately behind the scenes. July was amazing so I thought it deserved a dump :)

The sweetest family session from earlier this spring 💛

Northern Colorado can be windy and unpredictable, but always beautiful in my opinion. The Bartose family had the best attitude and embraced it all. We played, snuggled, found cool plants, and watched the sunset over Horsetooth before they started on their big move to the next adventure.

The Wienekes 🤍

This was the most beautiful day celebrating an incredible couple. I laughed, cried, and prayed along with all their loved ones in this perfect little slice of heaven they call home.

10/10 would recommend having a horse drawn carriage as your transportation for the day!

Let's talk albums...

Did you know research shows that touch and memory are deeply linked through distinct neutral pathways? I won't bore you with a science brain dump but it's actually very fascinating and you should look it up if you're interested.

What that means is when you touch something, the memory can actually be more powerful and trigger emotions in a way just thinking about it can't. Picture sitting in your favorite chair in your home and pulling out this beautiful book. Touching the texture of the cover with your names embossed in shining letters. Opening it up and feeling the thick pages. Running your finger over the picture of your husband's face as he looks at you in your wedding dress. Feeling the weight of it as you hand it to your children or grandchildren.

The biggest reason I've started including heirloom photo albums in many of my wedding collections is because I profoundly and earnestly want you to have this. I wish I had a physical album from my wedding, since time and technology have swept mine away. We live in a digital world obsessed with convenience and optimization. But photographs were not meant to live and die on your phone. Your photos are the only tangible item you keep from your wedding day, so make them actually touchable!

This absolutely applies to family photos, as well. I encourage everyone to print your photos in whatever way you want, but don't let them only be seen from a screen.
