Good morning! Happy Thursday!

While sitting outside with the dogs yesterday, I noticed the Dahlia I planted in the flower boxes on my fence. The Dahlia in today's photo is what really caught my eye, so I went inside and grabbed my wildlife camera I had downstairs—not my usual choice for photographing flowers, but it was close and saved me a trip upstairs. Anyway, I went back outside. I took a few test shots and looked at them to make sure the lighting, and composition was what I wanted. I made a few adjustments and boom... Today's photo.

One of the adjustments I made to the composition was to include the outstretched leaves in the photo. I felt they were as important to the photo as flower itself. In fact, those leaves inspired me to title the photo: "Embrace".

I hope your day is Wonderful, filled with Peace, Love, and Lots of Smiles! Thanks for looking!

Good afternoon! Happy Saturday!

Yesterday afternoon, I was sitting out in my backyard hoping to get a shot or two of orioles. In between oriole visits, I watched and photographed some of the other animals that frequent my backyard. The squirrels are everywhere... and unless my dogs are patrolling the backyard, I cannot keep them out of the feeders. So, what I found that if I put the previous day's oranges in a basket near the oriole feeder, that helps a bit keep them off the fresh oranges for a little while.

When I saw the squirrel in the basket, holding the orange half like it was a bowl and eating the inside, I had to get the shot. So here is my favorite photo of the squirrel eating the inside of the orange half, titled: "Table Manners"

Good afternoon! Happy Wednesday!

Since today was a bit dreary, I decided to stay home and look through some photos I took a few days ago. One in particular caught my eye—while driving down Culver Rd near Rosewood and Hazelwood, I noticed the beauty of pink cherry blossoms framing a red church door. I made a mental note to come back another day, and as I often do, I kept driving. By the time I reached Main St, I knew I had to turn back. It was just too beautiful not to photograph.

When I returned, I got out of the van and snapped a few shots. I thought I was satisfied, but a few minutes after leaving, I began thinking about what I captured and what I could have done differently. Still, I continued on to my original destination, Highland Park. Once there, I took a quick drive through the park, but my mind kept drifting back to that church door. I didn't even park my van, I knew I had to go back. I am glad I did, because the photo I am sharing is what I envisioned as I drove away the first time. So here is my photo of the red church door framed by beautiful pink cherry blossoms, titled, "Open Invitation"

Good morning! Happy May Day!

Today's photo is a Song Sparrow. While searching for small birds to photograph, I kept hearing one singing nearby. I looked and looked and finally spotted it. It was a little too high to photograph so I watched it a little longer waiting for it to find a lower perch. After a few minutes, it flew off and I lost sight of it. Once it landed and began singing again, it was easy to spot.

After photographing the bird, I got this song stuck in my head and found myself singing it as I was looking for other birds to photograph. The title of the song was also the perfect title for the photo, and now that I had the title for the photo, I had to go home and find the photo that fit.

So, here is today's photo of a Song Sparrow, titled: "Sing for the Day". I hope your day is Wonderful, filled with Peace, Love, and Lots of Smiles. Thanks for looking!

Good morning! Happy Wednesday!

Today's photo turned out quite different from what I had planned yesterday. I started out looking for foxes, but with no luck and little time before I had to get back to my doggies, I took a drive through Durand instead. Passing the White Lady's Castle, I realized I’d never captured a shot with the sign clearly visible (for those who don't know the story of the White Lady) in the foreground and the building as a secondary subject. I’m sure plenty of other photographers have done it, but it was too beautiful to pass up, and I wanted a shot of my own.

Anyway, here is today's photo, titled, "The Legend and Lore".

I hope your day is Wonderful, filled with Peace, Love, and Lots of Smiles! Thanks for looking!

Good morning! Happy Sunday!

So it is that time of year again when some of you will have fox kits hanging around your yard or a nearby location. If you know of any dens and would like to share the location with me, please send me a message. For the safety of the foxes, please, please do not post the location in the comments. If I do get any photos from the location you share with me, I will be more than happy to print up a photo or 2 for you.

Thank you so much! I hope your Sunday is Wonderful, filled with Peace, Love, and Lots of Smiles!

Good morning! Happy Sunday!

Last night, I told Kari to make sure she woke me up early because I wanted to catch the sunrise. Turns out, she didn’t need to— I woke up at 3:45 a.m. and couldn’t get back to sleep. I stayed in bed watching The Twilight Zone until 4:30, then decided it was time to shower and start the day.

I got to the Bay Outlet just before 6 a.m. The sky was already glowing with color, and I couldn’t wait to get out on the pier to capture the beauty of the morning. Today’s shot was taken around 6:15, about 8 to 10 minutes before the official sunrise, right when the sky’s vibrance seemed to be at its peak.

Watching the beauty of the day’s beginning was truly uplifting and spiritual. God painted a stunning canvas, and I did my best to capture it to share with you.

I hope your day is Wonderful, filled with Peace, Love, and Lots of Smiles! Thanks for looking!

Good morning! Happy Saturday!

Today's photo, much like the cardinal photo I shared earlier in the week, is another photo that I was looking for until it presented itself. I saw these Northern Flickers, which by the way is one of my favorite birds, flying from tree to tree and that immediately grabbed my attention. I have been trying, for quite some time now, to capture them in flight with the wings fully spread. They are absolutely gorgeous in flight. The yellow on the underside of the wings and tail is stunning. Well, I got close, but as you can see, I missed the full spread wing shot. I was happy to capture what I captured and still have the incentive to try again to get that beautiful fully extended wing shot.

I hope your day is Wonderful, filled with Peace, Love, and Lots of Smiles! Thanks for looking!

Good morning! Happy Thursday!

I got up early yesterday hoping to get out and catch a "bird breath" photo. You know, it is one of those photos shot on a cold, windless day where you can actually see the bird's breath as it calls out. Well, that didn't go so well... So, I headed in another direction. I went looking for wood ducks.

When I arrived, the light was absolutely perfect. It wasn't long before another photographer pointed out a pair of wood ducks hanging out in a nearby tree. It was fun watching and waiting for the ducks to land in that perfect spot to grab a nice photo. I was lucky enough to capture today's photo and several others during my visit yesterday.

I hope your day is Wonderful, filled with Peace, Love, and Lots of Smiles! Thanks for looking!
