It’s that time of year when I start to prepare for another big trip. The preparation that goes into packing, the anticipatory anxiety that wells up in my body days before departure. It’s a wonderful feeling building 2 business so big that you’re invited to photograph or sometimes teach at retreats across the world. But as much as I love to go, I hate to miss my family all the same. What a terribly beautiful conundrum.

Thanks for all your support. Excited to join for another amazing retreat this week!

in a room where families have come and gone
where stories have lived long before this one and still somehow it becomes theirs

I got to stand there and hold it for a second before it became a memory

I love what photography gives me
a real reason to pause and notice. That’s why I started. A feeling, a hobby, a therapy, and happiness attached to it.

but I also see how easily it pulls all of us in this industry into comparison
into feeling like we’re not doing enough.

“Comparison is the thief of joy”

so this was just a small reset

to be present
to enjoy what’s in front of us
and to not always tie our worth to what we create.

Life really is beautiful if we just allow ourselves to notice.

Some people chase dreams. Others build them from the ground up.

My dear friend Stacy of NovemberMaker is one of those people. Over the past few years she has trusted me to photograph her brand, and I’ve had a front row seat to the passion, grit, and heart she’s poured into building something truly her own.

Her bolo ties, scarves, and the outfits she designs have this magic about them, the kind that makes you walk into a room standing a little taller, feeling confident, bold, and like a million bucks.

Rodeo season kicks off this week and I couldn’t be more proud of her for her second year at the Houston rodeo. If you’re there, please stop by her booth and see the beautiful world she has created.

Stacy, I’m endlessly grateful for your friendship and trust in me through the years. Wishing you the most incredible rodeo season.
